MLB DFS Picks Today (7/2/26): DraftKings & FanDuel Strategy — Early + Main Slates
July 2, 2026
Two slates of MLB DFS picks today on the Fourth of July eve, and both start from the same place: find the one arm the field cannot argue with, then figure out how to fill in around it. This is the full breakdown from our July 2 Stokastic MLB DFS Strategy Show, covering the top pitchers, the stacks worth building, and where the Sims point on DraftKings and FanDuel. It builds on the expected-value math behind DFS that drives every lineup call below. The early three-gamer locks at 12:35 p.m. ET; the main slate is a short six-gamer. Every read below is grounded in the Stokastic MLB DFS Sims, projections and ownership, the same tools behind the daily MLB DFS picks hub.
In Summary
- Early Slate (3 Games): Jacob Misiorowski (MIL) Is The Near-Lock Pitcher. A 9.5-strikeout prop, his first all season, against a Cincinnati Reds lineup that owns the league's highest strikeout rate versus right-handers. The Sims want him at close to 100%.
- Early Build: After Misiorowski, It Is A Spray-And-Pray. Fade the Chase Burns (CIN) chalk relative to the field, spread thin exposure across the mediocre arms, and lean on Phillies and Pirates bats in the heat.
- Main Slate (6 Games): Bryce Miller (SEA) Headlines at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park against a strikeout-prone Angels lineup, with Nathan Eovaldi (TEX) and Roki Sasaki (LAD) the supporting arms and Dustin May (STL) the contrarian pivot.
- Main Stacks: Tampa Bay Rays And Kansas City Royals carry the two highest team totals (5.4) and the top value scores. The Rays are discounted, so the Sims pour into them.
- The Whole Slate Runs Hot: Coors Field, 100°+ in Philadelphia, and a wind blowing out in Kansas City are the environmental levers to price in.
Early Slate: Jacob Misiorowski Is The Play
Start with the outlier, because there is only one. Jacob Misiorowski (MIL) draws a 9.5-strikeout prop against the Cincinnati Reds, and it is the first time all season the book has hung a number that high on him. That is not "typical Misiorowski." It is a signal. The Reds carry the highest strikeout rate in baseball against right-handed pitching (roughly 25% across their active roster), they rank 29th in wRC+, they sit bottom-five in wOBA versus righties, and they own the lowest team total on the day at three runs. There is no trap here. It is simply as good a matchup as a DFS pitcher can get.
The Sims agree emphatically. Misiorowski projects for 26 fantasy points, a full seven DraftKings points clear of the next arm, with a 74% top-two-pitcher probability and the second-best value score on the slate at 127. On a three-game board, that combination is close to unbeatable. Getting to something near 100% Misiorowski is not the reckless play. It is the disciplined one.
The tricky part is Chase Burns. Chase Burns (CIN) is a very good young arm and $2,000 cheaper, projecting around 18.5 points, and the field will pile in with projected ownership near 36%. We are going well under that. Burns draws a Milwaukee lineup that walks a ton (second-highest walk rate versus righties), ranks top-three in wRC+, and sits sixth in wOBA against right-handers. It is the kind of matchup you avoid when the best pitcher on the slate is standing on the other side of it. Fading the Burns chalk is where the leverage lives.
After the top two, it is a spray-and-pray. The rest of the arms grade out nearly identical and nearly all negative in simulated ROI, with strikeout props of 4.5 or lower:
| Pitcher | Team | The read |
|---|---|---|
| Michael Lorenzen | COL | Coors backdrop, near-replacement projection. Thin exposure only. |
| Alan Rangel | PHI | The long-relief piece since Painter was demoted; a bullpen-game arm in a hitter's park. |
| Ryan Gusto | MIA | Playable against a cold Colorado bat pool, but no ceiling. |
| Jared Jones | PIT | Highest raw point projection of the group at 12, but the priciest, so the value is not there. |
Roster Misiorowski, then spread roughly equal, low exposure across those four and hope one does not blow up.
On the hitting side, the environments do the talking. The Marlins-Rockies game at Coors Field carries a 12-run total, and Phillies-Pirates sits at 10.5 with a first-pitch feels-like near 110° in Philadelphia. That is hitter-friendly on both counts, which is why the Sims land on roughly 60% Phillies stacks and 33% Pirates, with about 31% Miami mixed in and only a light Colorado lean against Gusto. The two teams to fade entirely as stacks are Cincinnati and Milwaukee, since they are staring down Misiorowski and Burns. Kyle Stowers (MIA) carries a big ownership tag against Lorenzen, and the top of that discounted Phillies order (Bryce Harper included) sits in a park and heat built for offense.
One live-lineup caveat: the Sims run before first pitch, so a name or two in the exposure boards can get scratched as lineups drop during the show. Always refresh the Sims once cards are confirmed before you lock.
Main Slate: Bryce Miller Headlines The Six-Gamer
The main slate has a clear ace, and it is Bryce Miller (SEA) against the Los Angeles Angels in pitcher-suppressing T-Mobile Park. Since returning to the rotation, Miller has been elite by process, ranking third in walk rate, fourth in strikeout rate, and third in expected ERA. Even his rockier outings have carried double-digit strikeouts (11 punchouts in a three-run start). The matchup amplifies it: the Angels own the second-highest strikeout rate in the league against righties (behind only the Reds), rank 25th in wRC+ and 29th in walk rate, and Miller does not hand out free passes. His 6.5-strikeout prop is juiced to the over for a reason.
Yes, there is some luck baked in (a 99% strand rate will not hold), and his ownership near 44% is honestly lower than it should be. He owns the highest top-two-pitcher probability and the highest DraftKings point projection while still grading top-three in value. Getting to 100% Miller today would not be a mistake.
The supporting arms:
| Pitcher | Matchup | The read |
|---|---|---|
| Nathan Eovaldi (TEX) | vs. Detroit | Popping in the Sims and getting heavy exposure; 6.5 K prop juiced over. Miller plus Eovaldi is the cleanest core. |
| Roki Sasaki (LAD) | vs. San Diego | The favorite pairing partner at $7,700. A boom-or-bust arm, but the Padres are dead last against righties in nearly every category, exactly the matchup he can spike in. |
| Dustin May (STL) | vs. Atlanta | The contrarian pivot at $7,500 and roughly 9% ownership. A 23% strikeout rate, a 6% walk rate and a 7% barrel rate against a middling Braves lineup (20th in wOBA, 21st in wRC+ vs. righties, Acuña still on the IL). Real ceiling the field is ignoring. |
| Framber Valdez (DET) | vs. Texas | Priced fairly and viable at the number, but the maddening inconsistency keeps him from being a core piece. |
| Davis Martin (CWS) | vs. Cleveland | A defensible cheaper option at roughly 15% ownership (24% K rate, limits walks, about half a homer per nine), though the 4.5 K prop caps the upside versus the Miller and Eovaldi sixes. |
The weather is the multiplier again. It is 96° in Cleveland, 93° in Atlanta, and 91° in Kansas City with the wind blowing out to left at 11 mph, while Texas, Detroit and the Angels-Mariners game all sit indoors and Dodger Stadium is a pleasant 67°. That environmental split is a big reason the arms pitching inside with lower totals get fed more heavily into lineups.
Where To Stack
The two stacks that jump off the board are the Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals. Both carry the slate's highest team total at 5.4, and they rank one-two in stack score and value score. The Rays especially, because their bats are discounted (their power hitters aside, the lineup is cheap, which cracks value wide open before you even factor the heat). Left unchecked, the Sims push toward 53% Tampa Bay, so capping the Rays around 30% and letting Kansas City, Atlanta (against May), Cleveland (against Martin) and a little Texas fill in keeps you from over-concentrating on one team.
On the flip side, the Dodgers are the fade, not because the bats are bad, but because they are priced into oblivion (five players over $5,000 with Mookie Betts in). You can find the same upside cheaper. Also skip stacking the Angels against Miller and the Cleveland or Seattle bats against the low-projected arms.
Bats carrying the highest exposure and clearest cases: Salvador Perez (KC) and Bobby Witt Jr. (KC) anchor the Royals; Yandy Díaz (TB) and Junior Caminero (TB) headline the discounted Rays; Shohei Ohtani (LAD) and Ivan Herrera (STL) carry strong individual projections; and Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD) stays in play against Sasaki despite the down stretch. The Rays' value runs deep enough that cheaper pieces like Chandler Simpson (TB), Cedric Mullins (TB) and Taylor Walls (TB) round out four- and five-man stacks without straining the salary cap.
Example Main-Slate Build
Here is how the pieces fit into one DraftKings roster. Pair Bryce Miller (SEA) with Roki Sasaki (LAD) at $7,700, which spends up on the top arm and still leaves room, then bring a four-man Tampa Bay Rays stack of Díaz, Caminero, Simpson and Walls off that 5.4 team total and cheap salaries. Finish the lineup with two Royals from the other 5.4-total stack, Salvador Perez and Bobby Witt Jr., plus one leverage bat in Shohei Ohtani at a park (67°, Dodger Stadium) the field is fading on price. That is one ace, one high-ceiling arm, and correlated exposure to the two best stacks on the board. Run 20 to 40 lineups off that shape in the optimizer and let the Sims vary the fill.

In Summary
- Early Slate: Jacob Misiorowski (MIL) is the near-lock pitcher (9.5 K prop vs. the strikeout-prone Reds). Get to roughly 100%, spray thin exposure across the mediocre arms, and fade the Chase Burns (CIN) chalk. Stack Phillies and Pirates in the heat and at Coors-adjacent totals.
- Main Slate: Bryce Miller (SEA) headlines at T-Mobile against the Angels, with Nathan Eovaldi (TEX) and Roki Sasaki (LAD) the core mates and Dustin May (STL) the contrarian pivot.
- Stacks: Tampa Bay Rays (discounted, top value, cap ~30%) and Kansas City Royals are the two builds; fade the expensive Dodgers.
- Refresh the Stokastic MLB DFS Sims once lineups are confirmed, because a couple of pre-lineup exposures will move.
