Pitchers 6/29 ⚾️💪
George Kirby vs LAA 3.3 runs: T-Mobile Park is already a pitcher's haven and it will be augmented with cooler temperatures in the upper-60s and the usual marine layer coming off nearby Puget Sound. Jorge Soler and his 30% K-rate is back in the lineup, with the projected Halos roster combining for a 25.5 K% against RHPs this season, with five hitters considered high strikeout candidates (HKCs). Kirby has slipped to a career-low 20.9 K% this season, though his ground ball rate is a personal best at nearly 50%.
Ryan Weathers vs DET 3.6 runs: The Motor City Kitties have dropped 5 of 6 games, though they did have 19 runs in the last trio of tilts. Weathers has allowed just one "Ernie" in each of the last two games, including his last start @DET. The game log was a little stormy with at least 5 ERs in 4 of his 5 preceding starts, so hopefully Weathers is back on track with his accustomed steady production with K-upside. Six hitters in the projected Detroit lineup have a 24% or higher K-rate against RHPs this season.
Parker Messick vs TEX 3.6 runs: The Texas roster is short on power versus southpaws, with Jack Burger, Justin Foscue and Kyle Higashioka the only RHBs with pop. Messick is quietly becoming a "stopper" for the Guardians, who need a bright spot with so may key hitters on the shelf.
DK has some fun late-slate tournaments, which means we need an SP2 to pair with Kirby. LHP Eduardo Rodriquez has a career-low strikeout rate, but the veteran may have enough crafty lefty guile to best the SF offense. in West Sacramento, LHP Gage Jump will have to deal with the Dodgers, but the prospect has at least flashed DFS upside in his call-up.
Top Stacks 6/29 ⚾️
The Coors Field Extravaganza is pushing a 12 run total, with temperatures in the upper-80s at first pitch, with both offenses profiling well. In the Windy City, we have a 14-17mph breeze to left and the SDP RHBs look good against LHP Shota Imanaga, who has suffered at least 3 HRs in 4 of the last 6 games. Apparently the Friars are feeling feisty as it has been reported that RHP Griffin "Tomato" Canning will be operating without an opener. Giggity!
But wait...there's more! The A's get to face LHP Eric Lauer in Sutter Health Park and while Brent Rooker and Zack Gelof are on the IL, with Jacob Wilson and Tyler Soderstrom are dinged up, anyone in the line is intriguing, even the lesser bats who are cheap. We need to remember that the Dodgers have a strong bullpen, though the four best relievers all worked Sunday afternoon, plus if the offense puts up runs, manager Dave Roberts may let Lauer "work through" trouble tonight for 4-5 frames.
In Arizona, the LHBs atop the D'Backs lineup card all profile well against RHP Tyler Mahle. The Giants bats will be thrilled to be out of Oracle Park, creating some nice direct leverage against the field for the 3-game late-slate.
Finally in a "something's gotta give" matchup, the anemic BOS offense has a "get right" spot against RHP Miles Mikolas who has just 12 Ks in his last 27 innings, barely outpacing his 9 XBHs (5 HRs, 4 DBLs) in this timeframe. He has been working with an opener and while one has not been announced.
