EARLY Top Stacks 8/29 ⚾️🎇

CHW at RHP Bailey Ober 4.7 runs: The last six starts for Ober have been mediocre, though he has been lucky to have only a 4.88 ERA when realizing his has a paltry 16 Ks across these 31.1 IP. Lefty power is an issue and the ChiSox have plenty of lumber in their lineup, plus slugger Colson Montgomery may be working out of his slump. Miguel Vargas is a right-handed bopper and his power plays against pitchers of either-handedness.

MIN vs RHP Erick Fedde 4.9 runs: It would not be a surprise for an opener to be announced, since that has been the path of the Pale Hose in each of Fedde's last four scheduled multi-inning efforts. Strikeouts and walks are few and far between, meaning lots of balls in play when the 33yo is on the mound. The Twins set up well against RHPs and pretty much everyone on the lineup card is in play, particularly on the sub-slates.

ATL vs RHP Ryan Feltner 5.1 runs: In his last five road games, Feltner has allowed 21 runs in 25.1 IP, effectively bringing his Coors Field production on the road. He is a friend to all opposite-handed batsmen, with fellow righties also joining in on the fun this year. Atlanta has plenty of pop and the hitters that are not elite in that aspect are very good at getting contact and putting balls in play.

EARLY Pitchers 8/29 ⚾️ 🏖️

Jose Soriano vs SEA 3.8 runs: The solid campaign continues for the ground ball artist, though he has not recaptured the magic that saw him ceded just one run over his first six starts. He allowed five @NYY on Sunday, though a favorable 17 in the preceding 8 appearances across 44.1 IP. The Ks have been down, but he is facing the anemic Mariners who have scored the fewest runs in the league, including a bottom-three road rate.

Blake Snell at DET 3.3 runs: In his three games since returning, the superlative southpaw has logged 84, 90 and 94 pitches with 21 Ks in his 18 IP. The Dodgers are running away with the NL West, but are in a pitched battle with ATL and MIL for home field advantage. It is unlikely Snell is left in if he struggles, though he should make some noise in the DFS streets with 4-5 high-strikeout candidates (HKCs) in the expected Detroit lineup.

Cade Cavalli vs MIA 4.0 runs: Cavalli is at a career-high 148.2 innings, though he has been dealing over his last four outings with 36 Ks in 26 IP. He has just 6 BBs and 5 ERs in this stretch, though it is worth noting each was tallied via a solo shot. The projected Miami lineup has 4-5 HKCs, which will provide the opportunities for Cavalli to continue making his own magic at the plate.

Top Stacks 8/29 ⚾️🎇

BAL at RHP Jack Perkins 5.3 runs: We will not be alone in targeting Perkins. It is worth pointing out that he has allowed only one "Ernie" in his last two appearances, with a healthy 10 Ks in these 8.2 IP. Of course the 6 BBs and only 6 ground ball outs are problematic and he was knocked around for 18 runs in his preceding 13.1 IP. The Batters of Birdland have shown XBH upside against RHPs over the last month, even if they resemble a wind farm.

SFG vs LHP Mitch Bratt 4.8 runs: It appears that Bratt will be pitching Game 2 of the doubleheader and he has struggled with control, giving up 19 BBs in his last 29 IP. That is a problem since location was a strength of his in the minors. Focus on the top half of the depleted order with Bryce Eldridge, Jonah Cox, Rafael Devers and backstop Andrew Knizner the preferred plays, while also providing salary flexibility.

PHI at RHP Ryan Johnson 4.9 runs: After getting creamed in July, with 22 runs in 21.2 IP, Johnson has seen serviceable August results. However, he has only 13 Ks in his 21.1 IP this month, while handing out 11 free passes. That makes the usual suspects for Philadelphia very appealing and the team is dialed in right now having won 11 of the last 13 games.

Pitchers 8/29 ⚾️ 🚀

Cristopher Sanchez at LAA 3.9 runs: The southpaw has been superlative this season, ceding more than four runs only three time with two or fewer in 18 of his 27 appearances. There are going to be at least six if not seven high-strikeout candidates (HKCs) landing on the Halos lineup card and there is not much else to add to the analysis.

Max Fried vs BOS 3.6 runs: Keep in mind that Fried (elbow bruise) is coming off his second IL stint, though this was close to the minimum stay and the veteran had been solid in his five starts with 29 Ks in 24.2 IP and just 5 ERs between the stays. It is hard to know how many pitches he will log in his return, though something in the 72-77 range or five innings feels appropriate, with a quick hook if he labors.

Shane Drohan vs TEX 3.8 runs: After a six-run mound meltdown to start the month, Drohan has been trending in the right direction with 5 ERs in his last three outings, with one being a 2-inning relief appearance. Expectations are he should push through his career high for innings tonight and the Brew Crew has indicated that this is being monitored as the team wants to have him available for the postseason.

Cal Quantrill at MIL 4.5 runs: The Brewers have the fewest home runs in the league this season, though the team does have the sixth most runs scored across the last 30 days and we know the overall offense has been outpacing the individual parts. This is a DK SP2 play, unless you are feeling bold with Perkins or Baz at Sutter Health Park.
