NYY at RHP Bailey Ober · 4.7 runs
It will be a pleasant evening in Minneapolis with temperatures in the upper-60s and a light 7-10mph breeze to center field. Ober is susceptible to lefty power and he also has a hefty 8 BBs in his last trio of tilts spanning 14.1 IP. He is not afraid to challenged hitters, as evidenced by 14 Ks in this stretch, but is a fine needle to thread against Aaron Judge and the rest of the left-handed batsmen populating the top half of the lineup card.
SEA at RHP Ryan Johnson · 4.8 runs
The M's set up well against righties and while Johnson's deception and placement may help him the first time through the order, he has a whopping 22 BBs in his last 42.2 IP, with 7 HRs and only 29 Ks. Every lefty is in play, along with a locked in Randy Arozarena who is in the midst of one of the best stretches of his career.
ARZ vs RHP Janson Junk · 4.7 runs
Corbin Carroll lifted the D'Backs to an 8-7 victory with a 2-run round-tripper in the bottom of the ninth last night as Arizona continues to stay in the postseason mix. Junk has little in the way of strikeout stuff and he can pretty much be classified as "pitching to contact" and hoping the defense saves his bacon. That is not a sound strategy against a fully-healthy D'Backs squad that has a lot of lefty power and good plate discipline. The top-7 is very much in play, creating a nice pool of players to fit in around another primary stack.
The Coors Field Extravaganza has the Friars with a 25% probability of being the highest scoring DFS stack, with COL vying with the rest of the chase group that is hovering around a 6% top-stack outcome. Enjoy!
Pitchers 9/15 ⚾️💪
| Opponent total | Matchup | |
|---|---|---|
| Logan Gilbert | 3.7 runs | at LAA |
| Hunter Brown | 3.7 runs | vs KCR |
| Andre Pallante | 4.0 runs | vs SFG |
| Sean Manaea | 4.0 runs | vs BAL |
Logan Gilbert at LAA · 3.7 runs
Across his last five games, Gilbert has a 6.08 ERA, though his 3.47 xERA and 3.30 xFIP indicate he has had som bad luck. The main culprits are the combination of 11 BBs and 8 HRs in these 26.2 IP, though for DFS purposes the 35 Ks in this timeframe have helped offset some of the damage. Expectations are for the Angels to roll out six high-strikeout candidates (HKCs) tonight, which should have The Masses lining up to roster the M's stopper.
Hunter Brown vs KCR · 3.7 runs
Brown continues to bring the strikeout upside, though he is going to have to work for it tonight as the Royals will only have 2-3 HKCs on the lineup card. His 25.8 K% is below last year's 28.1%, however he does have a 28.2% across the last 30 days, facing 117 hitters.
Andre Pallante vs SFG · 4.0 runs
The 16.1 K% across his last 1,320 batters faced show the limited DFS upside for Pallante, though going against the absolute dregs of the San Francisco roster (apologies to Drew Gilbert and Bryce Eldridge) have Pallante under consideration as an SP2 on DK with the hopes that he maintains a mostly clean stat line and the Redbirds have enough juice to back him up for the win bonus.
Sean Manaea vs BAL · 4.0 runs
Despite averaging nearly 5.2 IP and logging 86+ pitches three times, the veteran southpaw has called just 21.8 DKFP in this period, with just 13 Ks in 22.1 IP. In the three preceding starts to this arbitrary window, Manaea did have 7, 11 and 7 whiffs. The Batters of Birdland will have 7-8 HKCs in the lineup tonight and while it will be terrifying to watch the game unfold, Manaea has tournament appeal as a DK SP2.
