Eastern Washington vs. Kansas Game Info

Eastern Washington Eagles (16-7, 12-3 Big Sky Conference) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (20-8, 12-6 Big 12)

Date: Saturday, Mar. 20, 2021
Start Time: 1:15 p.m. EST
Bracket: West Region
Coverage: TBS

Despite being a No. 3-seed, Kansas ranks just 21st in at Kenpom. The Jayhawks fare much better in the NCAA’s NET Rankings, as they sit in 11th. Kansas’ strength this season has been its defense, ranking sixth in adjusted defensive efficiency compared to just 59th in adjusted offensive efficiency.

Eastern Washington ranks 110th at Kenpom and 114th in the NET Rankings, entering the tournament on the heels of winning the Big Sky Tournament as a No. 2-seed. Unlike the Jayhawks, they’re better on offense as the 84th in the nation for offensive efficiency but just 146th in adjusted defensive efficiency.

These teams have opposing strengths, but Kansas’ underwhelming offense is still better than Eastern Washington’s.

FiveThirtyEight gave Eastern Washington a 21% chance to win before the tournament began, the second-best of all 14-seeds. That has since fallen to 17% following the news that McCormack will play.

Eastern Washington vs. Kansas Spread College Basketball Betting Lines + Best Bets

Today's College Basketball betting lines and best bets include Eastern Washington vs. Kansas West Region NCAA Tournament game with expert analysis on 3/19.

I like Kansas in this matchup, especially with McCormack back in the lineup. I suspect that the spread may tick up over time, but Kansas’ strong defense and net-better offense makes them a decent pick to cover.

The Jayhawks are currently 10.5-point favorites across the market. All books have the same juice on each line, except for PointsBet, which offers the best deal on Kansas (-108). They also have the best deal on the Eagles, too (-108).

These lines may move as tip-off approaches, so make sure to double-check OddsShopper to confirm that you’re getting the best deal.

Eastern Washington vs. Kansas Total College Basketball Betting Lines + Best Bets

Today's College Basketball betting lines and best bets include Eastern Washington vs. Kansas West Region NCAA Tournament game with expert analysis on 3/19.

The total for this game is somewhat high, given how well Kansas has played defensively. The Jayhawks allow just 66.2 points per game, and combined with their average points per game (72.5), that still sits below where this total has been posted at every book.

Should you favor the under, you can get the highest-set total at PointsBet — and they’re also offering the best juice (-108). If you favor the over, you’ll find the lowest-set total with the best juice at SugarHouse and DraftKings (-108).

You can always head over to OddsShopper yourself to check for any line movement!

Matt’s Prediction – Eastern Washington +10.5

Kansas enters this contest with Covid-19 concerns. Jalen Wilson will miss this game and David McCormack is expected to play a limited role after quarantining for over a week. With Tristan Enaruna also missing the game, Kansas’ front-court remains extremely thin. Eastern Washington ranks 29th in offensive efficiency and should exploit this matchup advantage here.
