College Football Week 7 Friday DFS Picks: Rashee Rice Projects as Top WR for Friday’s Slate (October 14)

There is nothing better than Friday night football under the lights, and there are two games tomorrow before the typical monster slate on Saturday. It is not the greatest slate of games from a real-life perspective, but for daily fantasy sports purposes, there’s a lot to like.

With only two games in play, there aren’t going to be nearly as many strong plays as there would be on a main slate, so be prepared to roster players that are generally skippable on a Saturday afternoon. This article will provide NCAAF DFS picks and lineup advice for the DraftKings slate on Oct. 7 that locks at 7 p.m. ET.

College Football DFS: Week 7 Friday Night CFB Picks

Quarterback

Frank Harris, UTSA ($6,800) — Our top projected quarterback for the entire weekend, Harris is an auto-lock in all formats on Friday night. Averaging 33 DraftKings points per game, Harris has been phenomenal for UTSA, as the Roadrunners currently sit at 4-2 and atop the Conference USA standings. Way too cheap at $6,800, Harris finds himself in another fantastic spot on the road at FIU, and with UTSA a 33.5-point favorite, expect the Roadrunners to move the ball and rack up touchdowns with ease. Projected for over seven more points than the next highest quarterback on either Friday or Saturday, plug in Harris and quickly move along.

Other Quarterbacks: Tanner Mordecai, SMU ($7,900); Tai Lavatai, Navy ($5,400)

Running Backs

Brenden Brady, UTSA ($6,000) — The highest-priced running back on the slate, Brady is still far too cheap at $6,000, and he’s the next piece of the UTSA offense we will lock in with Harris. Averaging 16.8 DraftKings points per game, Brady has been rock solid recently with at least 22 points in back-to-back games, and in a crush spot against FIU, his upside is massive at this price point. Projected as the sixth-highest scoring running back for the entire weekend, expect a heavy dose of Brady for the Roadrunners, especially in the second half as UTSA cruises.

Velton Gardner, SMU ($3,500) — Leaving money on the table is definitely viable on this slate, and Gardner is a big reason why at $3,500. Projected as the third-highest scoring running back on Friday night just slightly behind teammate Tre Siggers, Gardner looked really good last week, rushing for 69 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries against Central Florida. With the Mustangs currently 12.5-point favorites against Navy, Gardner should easily see double-digit touches again this week, and he’s a cog in our machine in all formats at only $3,500.

Other Running Backs: Tre Siggers, SMU ($5,800); Lexington Joseph, FIU ($4,900); Trelon Smith, UTSA ($4,500); Vincent Terrell II, Navy ($4,200); Daba Fofana, Navy ($4,100)

Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice, SMU ($8,500) — Despite only being a two-game slate, the top four projected wide receivers for the entire weekend all suit up on Friday night, with Rice leading the way at $8,500. One of the most dynamic receivers in college football, Rice is averaging an absurd 29.7 DraftKings points per game, with at least 30 in three of SMU’s first five games. One of the best floor/ceiling combinations of any wideout in the country, Rice should have his way with whoever Navy tries to put on him, and given the lack of high-end talent to choose from on this slate, he’s impossible to get away from.

Zakhari Franklin, UTSA ($7,600) — All three of UTSA’s top wide receivers are all very much in play on Friday night, but with salary not really an issue on this slate, Franklin gets the nod at $7,600. Our second-highest projected wide receiver for the weekend, Franklin has been awesome for the Roadrunners so far this season, averaging 23.9 DraftKings points per game with at least 20 in five of UTSA’s first six games. In a game UTSA should be in control of from start to finish, we can’t have too much exposure to the Roadrunners on this slate, and Franklin is easy to fit despite his relatively expensive $7,600 price tag. The monster game is coming sooner rather than later for Franklin, and we want him on our side on Friday night.

Other Wide Receivers: De’Corian Clark, UTSA ($7,100); Joshua Cephus ($6,800); Tyrese Chambers, FIU ($5,800); Jalen Bracey, FIU ($4,100); Beau Corrales, SMU ($3,400);
