College Football Week 8 DFS Picks: Target John Rhys Plumlee in a Matchup with East Carolina (October 22)

Saturday’s college football fun doesn’t stop with the main slate, and an eight-game night slate ends the College Football DFS picks on DraftKings, with plenty of big names available, including Bryce Young and Malik Cunningham.

Mississippi State heads to Tuscaloosa for a SEC showdown with Alabama. Air Force hosts Boise State in a classic Mountain West battle. Texas A&M heads to South Carolina for a matchup with the Gamecocks. Penn State plays host to Minnesota in a battle for Big Ten bragging rights. Central Florida heads to East Carolina to face the Pirates in a key AAC matchup.

Those are just the five games that start at 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. ET, with three more contests kicking off at 8:00 p.m. ET. Coming off their first win of the season, Colorado heads to Oregon State for a matchup with the Beavers. Adrian Martinez and Kansas State travel to TCU to take on the undefeated Horned Frogs. Last, but certainly not least, Louisville hosts Pittsburgh with Cunningham back under center for the Cardinals.

With eight games in play and a few teams still playing against inferior competition, there are plenty of strong CBB DFS picks at all positions and some potentially lopsided scores across the board. This article will provide NCAAF DFS picks and lineup advice for the DraftKings slate on October 15 that locks at 7:00 p.m. ET. Let’s dive into our College Football DFS picks.

College Football DFS Picks: Week 8 Saturday Night

Quarterback

John Rhys Plumlee, Central Florida ($8,400) — Our top projected quarterback for the entire day, Plumlee looks like a lock in all formats at a more than affordable $8,400 price tag. Averaging 35.7 DraftKings points per game, the Central Florida signal-caller has been one of the best quarterbacks in college football, and he’s in another great spot against East Carolina. Coming into Saturday night’s contest, Plumlee has completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 1,516 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. The Ole Miss transfer has also added 468 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. One of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in all of college football, Plumlee is coming off a monster 55.6 DraftKings point outing against Temple, and he’s a true ‘fade at your own risk’ type if you aren’t playing him.

Other Quarterbacks: Bryce Young, Alabama ($9,100); Adrian Martinez, Kansas State ($8,300); Max Duggan, TCU ($7,900); Malik Cunningham, Louisville ($7,400); Holton Ahlers, East Carolina ($7,200); Ben Gulbranson, Oregon State ($4,500)

Running Backs

Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama ($7,800) — Our top projected player for the entire day, Gibbs is projected for almost eight more DraftKings points than next highest running back on Saturday night’s slate. Averaging 24.9 DraftKings points per game, Gibbs is coming off a spectacular 41.1 point performance in last week’s loss to Tennessee, and look for Nick Saban to feed the Georgia Tech transfer early and often against Mississippi State. 100 or more rushing yards in three-straight games, Gibbs is another great spot on Saturday night matched up with a Bulldogs defense that ranks 86th in the country in Defensive Success Rate against the run. One of the best floor/ceiling combinations in the country, Gibbs has fallen below 15 DraftKings points only once, while putting up 39 or more twice in the past three weeks. Too cheap at $7,800, Gibbs should get a lot of love on this slate and he’s a cog in our machine in all formats.

Keaton Mitchell, East Carolina ($6,300) — There are a few really good running backs on this slate, but Mitchell looks like the guy to pair with Gibbs at a very affordable $6,300 price tag. Averaging 21.6 DraftKings points per game, Mitchell has been one of the best running backs in the country since a subpar performance in Week 1 against NC State. 27.5 or more DraftKings points in three of the five games since that opening night date with the Wolfpack, Mitchell has been East Carolina’s best offensive player this season and there’s a lot to like about him as the Pirates take on Central Florida in Greenville.  In the two games he’s played since missing a matchup with South Florida in Week 5, Mitchell has a combined 60.8 DraftKings points, and at this price point he looks like one of the best plays on the entire slate.

Other Running Backs: Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State ($7,200); Devon Achane, Texas A&M ($5,600); Damien Martinez, Oregon State ($3,500); Jam Griffin, Oregon State ($3,100)

Wide Receivers

Isaiah Winstead, East Carolina ($7,400) — Our top projected wide receiver on Saturday night, Winstead has been one of the most reliable targets in college football this season. 52 catches for 714 yards and three touchdowns, Winstead is averaging 21.5 DraftKings points per game, and he’s got a clear rapport with quarterback Holton Ahlers. Coming off a monster 33.4 DraftKings point performance last week against Memphis, look for Winstead to keep that momentum rolling in another really good spot against Central Florida. The wide receiver position is pretty weak on this slate, but Johnson looks like the top option in all formats at $7,400.

Quentin Johnston, TCU ($7,000) — 78.6 DraftKings points combined against Kansas and Oklahoma State, Johnston has been arguably the best wide receiver in college football over the past two weeks. 22 catches for 386 yards and two touchdowns over this two-game stretch, Johnston has become quarterback Max Duggan’s clear top target, and at $7,000 he’s the obvious guy to pair with Winstead. Again, wide receiver is not the best position tonight, so while Johnston and Winstead might not have been locks on the main slate, they are the clear top-two guys on Saturday night.

Other Wide Receivers: Ryan O’Keefe, Central Florida ($7,300); Javon Baker, Central Florida ($7,100); Mitchell Tinsley, Penn State ($6,600); Derius Davis, TCU ($6,200); Kobe Prentice, Alabama ($5,900); Caleb Ducking, Mississippi State ($5,800); C.J. Johnson, East Carolina ($5,400); Bryson Green, Oregon State ($4,500); Cameron Latu, Alabama ($3,700); Brevyn Spann-Ford, Minnesota ($3,200)
