CFB DFS Picks: Week 8 Saturday CFB Picks

Quarterback

Jayden Daniels, LSU ($7,700)

Projected as the top quarterback on the slate, Jayden Daniels looks like an elite play in all formats at $7,700. He is averaging 26.6 DraftKings points per game and is coming off a massive 51.4-point outburst in Florida against the Gators. Facing a Rebels defense that ranks 358th in the country in pass attempts allowed per game, Daniels is in a great spot to put up big numbers. At this price point and with added rushing upside, he’s one of the best value plays on the slate.

Behren Morton, Texas Tech ($6,800)

Despite missing top wide receiver Myles Price, Behren Morton burst onto the scene against Oklahoma State, completing 39 of 62 passes for 369 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He also ran for 46 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, and at $6,800, it’s hard to get away from him. Morton racked up three touchdowns against a stout Cowboys defense, and Texas Tech is coming off the bye week, giving them a ton of time to prepare for Saturday’s game against West Virginia. Morton is projected to be the second-highest-scoring quarterback on the slate, and he has one of the best floor/ceiling combinations of any player on the board.

Other Quarterbacks: Bo Nix, Oregon ($9,300); Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA ($7,900); Jaxson Dart, Mississippi ($6,700); Drew Pyne, Notre Dame ($5,000)

Running Backs

Braelon Allen, Wisconsin ($7,400)

Projected as the second-highest scoring running back on the slate, Braelon Allen looks like a steal in all formats at $7,400. While it’s undoubtedly been a tough season for the 3-4 Badgers, Allen is still averaging 22.2 DraftKings points per game, and he’s been especially good recently, with 56 combined points over the past two contests. Wisconsin is in must-win territory and is favored by 2.5 points in a game with a total of 51.5, so points are definitely expected from both sides. Allen is the clear top piece of Wisconsin by a pretty good margin.

Casey Filkins, Stanford ($5,800)

Arguably the top overall play on the slate, Casey Filkins is a building block type piece in all formats at $5,800. He is projected to be the highest-scoring running back on the slate by almost a 3-point margin. Filkins has looked phenomenal leading Stanford’s backfield in the absence of E.J. Smith. With Smith out for the season, Filkins should continue being the guy for the Cardinal, and at this price point there’s no getting away from him. He had 32 carries for 91 yards and a touchdown last week against Notre Dame and added four catches for 46 yards, this is a crush spot at home against Arizona State on Saturday.

Other Running Backs: Bijan Robinson, Texas ($9,400); Will Shipley, Clemson ($6,800); Devin Mockobee, Purdue ($5,800); SaRodorick Thompson, Texas Tech ($4,700); Qualan Jones, Baylor ($3,000)

Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice, SMU ($7,900)

Rashee Rice has arguably been the No. 1 wideout in college football this year, averaging 26.5 DraftKings points per game. He has one of the best floor/ceiling combinations in the country, with three games of at least 33 DraftKings points. Facing a Cincinnati defense that has been torched in the passing game recently, Rice couldn’t ask to be in a better spot. He is expensive at $7,900, but there are value plays all over the board at other positions, so he’s easy to fit in all formats.

Michael Mayer, Notre Dame ($5,000)

Midseason All-American Michael Mayer looks like arguably the top value play on the entire slate at $5,000. He is averaging 19.2 DraftKings points per game and Stokastic projects Mayer as the seventh-best wide receiver on Saturday, but DraftKings has priced 45 other wideouts ahead of him. That’s about as big of a disparity as there will ever be, and Mayer’s upside is massive facing a UNLV defense that lacks the personnel to match up with him. There are good value plays littered throughout this entire slate, but Mayer might be the best at $5,000.

Other Wide Receivers: Charlie Jones, Purdue ($7,800); Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State ($6,900); Boston College ($5,900); Elijah Higgins, Stanford ($4,400); Ja’Tavion Sanders, Texas ($3,700)
