The following Spotlight Hitters were selected by Awesemo.com’s Director of Content Josh Engleman. Please check back later for notes/additional picks from Awesemo himself.
Carlos Santana
FD: $3500
DK: $4300
Santana has made an appearance in the Spotlight Hitters before, but tonight, I think he’s my favorite play relative to salary. He’s shown significantly more power versus right handed pitching in his career (.213 ISO vs. RHP). Brandon McCarthy is light in the stuff department, so there’s little fear from the match-up. Santana is popping up in large quantities on both sites, so don’t be afraid to use him outside of a Phillies stack.
Editor’s Note: Santana was a surprise omission from today’s Phillies lineup.
Paul Goldschmidt
FD: $4300
DK: $4800
The Diamondbacks have the highest implied total on the slate, which is perfect for stacking. Goldschmidt transcends the stack. Chris Stratton isn’t likely to overwhelm Goldy with stuff, so I’m betting on Goldschmidt getting multiple opportunities with runners on. He’s always a threat for a homerun, which makes his ceiling as high as anyone on the slate.
Ryan Zimmerman
FD: $2500
DK: $4000
On FanDuel, it’s impossible to ignore the price of Ryan Zimmerman. He has mashed lefties his entire career, to the tune of .305/.384/.516, which is incredible for a guy priced at $2500. Matz is a solid starting pitcher, but he’s still a lefty. Zimmerman should be a cornerstone in any FanDuel Nationals stack.
Awesemo’s Notes
I agree with Josh that Goldschmidt is the top option at first base, and that if you don’t go with him on FanDuel you can take Zimmerman or put one in your utility slot. Some of the other batters I like tonight are Daniel Descalso at a bargain price and Trea Turner as a spend-up.
