The second major is here with one of the strongest fields in golf featuring 96 of the top 100 players. They are set to tee it up this week in Tusla, Oklahoma at the PGA Championship 2022. With so many quality options to choose from, it should leave plenty of opportunities to roster low-owned golfers in search of the $1 million PGA DFS prize offered to first. This article will cover a few low-owned golfers for lineups this week, as well as provide a review of previous millionaire makers. Let’s get to the best PGA Championship 2022 fantasy golf picks this week.

PGA DFS Favorites: $9,000 and Above
- 13 golfers
With 13 high-quality choices to choose from, it is no surprise that ownership is spread relatively thinly. Five of the 13 will likely be owned at or over 20% and they are Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. Hideki Matsuyama is coming off a week where he looked healthy and had a chance at a win heading into the back nine on Sunday and will likely get very close to 20% as well.
With a slight dip, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson are both likely to be owned around 15% this week. Viktor Hovland and Cameron Smith are also projected between 10-15%. That leaves just two golfers above $9,000 that are likely to be owned under 10%.
Top Contrarian Fantasy Golf Picks
The two contrarian names up top that are likely to be owned under 10% this week are Brooks Koepka and Collin Morikawa. They are seemingly going in two different directions in their careers, as Morikawa has won two of his eight majors, whereas Koepka has not been in the winner’s circle in a major since the 2019 PGA Championship. Lately, it is more of the same as well, as Koepka missed the cut at The Masters and has not been in the top five of a stroke play event since the WM Phoenix Open back in February. On the other hand, Morikawa finished in fifth at The Masters and had a chance late Sunday at the RBC Heritage to post a number, but a debacle on the 17th hole on Sunday pushed him all the way out of the top 20. Still, his form is much better than that of Koepka’s.
PGA DFS Mid-Range ($8,900-$7,500)
- 11 golfers
With such a deep field and 156 golfers, it is no surprise to see fewer names in this price range. The 11 names here pose some of the biggest questions of the week. Only three of the 11 right now are projected with over 10% ownership, while Corey Conners and Will Zalatoris trend close to that number. The three that are solidly over 10% owned this week are Joaquin Niemann, Shane Lowry and Max Homa. That leaves six players, all of which are likely to be owned under 10% this week. They are:
- Sam Burns
- Daniel Berger
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Tyrrell Hatton
- Tiger Woods
- Louis Oosthuizen

Hatton is the only one of those six golfers without injury concerns heading into the week. Burns has missed each of his two cuts since announcing his lingering back issues after winning the Valspar Championship. Berger withdrew from the Mexico Championship, again sitting out with back problems. Oosthuizen has not seen hitting a golf ball since withdrawing from The Masters before the start of the second round. DeChambeau says he is not even 50% yet and may not even play, while Tiger is going to play, but is still dealing with leg problems stemming from his car crash.
In my opinion, Tiger is the most fascinating subject of all. If he is continually getting stronger, his ability to contend in majors will return, there is no debating that. Maybe there is, but you will not convince me otherwise. The ownership will follow once that all happensand being before the crowd on it could prove to be fruitful this week.
PGA DFS Value Plays ($7,400 and Below)
- 130 +golfers
This week DraftKings decided to load the upper $7,000 range, rather than bombard the $8,000 range with more golfers than normal. That leaves quite a number of golfers that are likely to be owned at or over 10%, including:
- Matt Fitzpatrick
- Adam Scott
- Tommy Fleetwood
- Jason Kokrak
- Tony Finau
- Cameron Young
- Seamus Power
- Alex Noren
- Jhonattan Vegas
- Sebastian Munoz
- Aaron Wise
Plenty of names are expected to get between 5-10%, including:
- Abraham Ancer
- Jason Day
- Keegan Bradley
- Marc Leishman
- Billy Horschel
- Gary Woodland
- Russell Henley
- Sergio Garcia
- Maverick McNealy
- Tom Hoge
- Christiaan Bezuidenhout
- Harold Varner III
- Cameron Champ
- Matt Kuchar
- Keith Mitchell
- J.J. Spaun
- Davis Riley
- K-H Lee
- Adam Hadwin
That leaves several golfers that are projected with less than 5% ownership. Some of those names are:
- Webb Simpson
- Talor Gooch
- Matthew Wolff
- Bubba Watson
- Sepp Straka
- Si Woo Kim
- Patrick Reed
- Justin Rose
- Luke List
- Erik Van Rooyen
- Robert MacIntyre
- Brian Harman
- Ian Poulter
- Rickie Fowler
- Kevin Na
- Charl Schwartzel
- Francesco Molinari
- Lucas Herbert
- Joel Dahmen
- Mito Pereira
- Sam Horsfield
- Mackenzie Hughes
- Anirban Lahiri
Among those golfers and almost every golfer in the field, Mito Pereira is the best value according to Awesemo’s PGA DFS Projections, with a projected score of 47.5 points. Be sure to check out how all of the Awesemo experts are ranking these golfers in the Pro Plays Tool.
