Food City Dirt Race NASCAR DFS Tournament & GPP Picks | DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Racing

NASCAR has wrapped up its short trip in Virginia and heads to Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend for the second dirt race at this venue. With their being a lot of unknowns heading into Sunday, there is leverage to be had to get a leg up on the field in tournaments this weekend. With the grid set and Cole Custer leading the field to green, let’s dive into some of the best NASCAR DFS Picks today for tournaments.

NASCAR DFS GPP Picks Today: Food City Dirt Race

This schedule may say Bristol, but this is not the typical Bristol race weekend, as NASCAR has decided once again that they are going to top the surface with dirt and make the drivers race on it. There are very few data points to look at when strategizing, but there were ample practice times that should help clear the air a bit.

Top Driver Picks & Projections

Christopher Bell $10,800 DraftKings/$3,000 FanDuel (2nd) — Bell is not extremely sneaky, but he will be lower owned than Kyle Larson, who is a very similar play and at a similar price point. Both are superb on dirt in their careers, and Bell showed plenty of speed in the second practice session. With Larson as the popular pick to dominate this race early, Bell has slightly better track position to work with and starts beside Custer.

Tyler Reddick $9,200 DraftKings/$11,500 FanDuel (3rd) — Reddick is in a bit of a pickle starting between Bell and Larson, who are the dirt track specialist, but Reddick showed a ton of speed on Friday evening. He was the fastest overall and has been fast at all track types this year. Dirt or asphalt, Reddick is a potential dominator.

Mid-Range Driver Picks & Projections

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. $7,700 DraftKings/$8,300 FanDuel (16th) — Stenhouse has been burning fantasy owners all season long now, but this is a very unique track and he did show very good practice times. He also has a history at dirt tracks, and this price and starting spot seem like a steal for someone who was able to bring home a second-place finish last year.

Austin Dillon $7,400 DraftKings/$6,300 FanDuel (12th) — This is a tough starting spot, but Dillon has become good just about everywhere at this point and even ran double duty in trucks on Saturday. Any added track time is a positive for drivers on a new racing surface. He also showed top-10 speeds in practice, whether it be in the long or short run.

NASCAR Driver Value Picks & Projection

Cole Custer $5,900 DraftKings/$4,000 FanDuel (1st) — This is an extremely risky play, but the upside is there with Custer on the pole if it ends up being hard to pass. He will have to hold off some elite drivers to lead laps early, but drivers that normally don’t dominate have done just that several times this year. Custer’s long run speeds in practice were solid for his price as well.

Todd Gilliland $5,400 DraftKings/$3,500 FanDuel (23rd) — Hopefully Gilliland will go overlooked because of the higher starting position, but he showed strong speeds across the board, whether it was short or long runs. He also has a bit of dirt experience, which should play in his favor.
