LoL DFS Lineups: This morning, we had a 2 a.m. EST lock for another six-game slate. For this article, I’m using the LOL $175K TITAN’S FURY [$50K TO 1ST] (LPL-LCK) DraftKings tournament. We had yet another solo-bink from a pro player, loumister35, so we’ll take a look at his lineups and see what we can learn from them. DraftKings is rolling out both a $50,000 and $20,000 top prize for today’s slates, as well as another $50,000 to first Saturday and a $100,000 to first Sunday.

Awesemo dropped his LoL DFS Projections last week as well as his LoL Ownership Projections (FREE) while Fantasy Cruncher launched their LoL optimizer, so now is a great time to jump in!

Lhe Winning Lineup

loumister took home a cool $50,000 with a little bit of a different lineup construction compared to some of the other pros. He still used a four-man ES stack, but his mini stack was a two-man RNG, and then he one-offed the TEAM slot, playing T1 instead of RNG, which was a 13-point difference, and ultimately put his lineup over the top. He cleared the field by eight points which is an impressive feat. Many of the other pros we’ve looked at so far are almost exclusively rolling out 4-3’s, especially on these bigger six-game slates. Loumister35 often times has more unique lineup constructions in stacking sports (MLB and NHL). Sacrificing a little bit of correlation (4-2-1 as opposed to 4-3) in order to increase your chances of a totally unique lineup makes for a good strategy if you’re trying to solo bink.

Field Exposures

ES and RNG were two of the chalkiest teams on the slate, but that’s not to say you couldn’t have success playing either of them, or both together, in the case of the winning lineup. It was surprising to see the -640 favorite wasn’t as popular as you would think. It could be a product of recency bias, as we had seen some huge favorites disappoint in recent slates. Wink almost approached 40% ownership, which is one of the higher rates we’ve seen so far — a mixture of a large favorite, good price and a stackable team will do that.

loumister35 LoL DFS Exposures

Here is another pro that subscribes to the flattened exposures theory, it appears. There is just one player at over 25% ownership, but 29 players at 10% or more. loumister35’s top-exposed team, JDG, was arguably the biggest bust on the slate. However, once again we see game-targeting in his exposures, similar to petteytheft and courtjesters from the last couple days. JDG and RNG were two of his top-five-exposed teams. Getting exposure on both sides of the closely contested games has worked out well over the last few days, and we had another outlier performance from a slight favorite (RNG) that was a pivotal part of tournament success. He played the chalky teams, but you can do that when you’re getting different by either playing low-owned parts of the stacks or running a unique lineup construction (non-4-3’s)

loumister35 CPT Exposures

There was only one CPT used above 10%. This is about as flat as it gets — 18 players used at least three times and only four used at least 10 times. I have been implementing this type of strategy, especially on the six-gamers, as we’ve seen most of the top players spreading out their captain exposures, especially when they are diversifying in their overall exposures. He didn’t use any off-the-board CPTs, as each of his top 17 CPT exposures were at least 6% owned overall. It looks like CPT isn’t the spot to get cute — play the best top players on the top teams (or the teams you’re stacking). Loumister doesn’t focus as much on ADC and MID, which is different than a guy like Awesemo.

LOL DFS Projections

Because Awesemo’s LoL DFS Projections are currently free, it isn’t too difficult to jump into tournaments and build competitive lineups, especially at lower stakes. However, if this is the only DFS game with $100K+ prize pools over the next couple weeks or months it will become sharper. Ownership will become more important. Stacking may change. The approach to different leagues — LCS vs. LPL — may even change. We will update this article as we continue to try to profit at our newest DFS sport!
