LoL DFS Ownership & Exposure Review | League of Legends Lineups | Thursday 3/26/20

LoL DFS Lineups: This morning, we had a 2 a.m. EST lock for another six-game slate. For this article, I’m using the LOL $175K TITAN’S FURY [$50K TO 1ST] (LPL-LCK) DraftKings tournament. Today, we’ll look at another one of the top DFS players who solo-binked the $50,000 top prize early this morning, courtjesters, and the strategies he used to take it down. DraftKings is rolling out not both a $50,000 and $20 top prize for Friday’s slates, as well as another $50,000 to first Saturday and a $100,000 to first Sunday.
Awesemo dropped his LoL DFS Projections last week as well as his LoL Ownership Projections (FREE) while Fantasy Cruncher launched their LoL optimizer, so now is a great time to jump in!

The Winning Lineup
Another 4-3 win takes it down on a six-game slate — something to take note of on bigger slates. Despite many users jamming in as many 4-3’s as possible, we had another solo bink, and a convincing one at that. Courtjesters cleared the 20,588-man field by almost 6.5 points with his four-man WE plus three-man DMO stack. WE was one of the more popular stacks, but using them with DMO was a nice way to differentiate, as all four members on his DMO stack were under 5% owned. He’s another contrarian player by nature, and looking through the leaderboard on some of his top lineups, he had no duplicates in any of his top-five lineups that finished in the top 100 of this tournament.
Field Exposures
T1 was the clear chalk on this morning’s slate. All six players from huge-favorite T1 were owned at at least 18.8%, and while they performed well, they did not end up in the winning lineup, which was a 4-3 WE-DMO stack. Many, including myself, likely slept through or just missed the Cuzz late news, so nearly 20% of the field took a zero. It is a nice way to play rake-free for the people that stayed up and made the swaps before lock. Courtjesters had none of Cuzz. There was really only one path to large-field GPP success, as the top-12 lineups were WE-DMO stack iterations.

courtjesters LoL DFS Exposures
The $50,000 win was well-deserved for Brian “courtjeseters” Jester. He not only finished with the top lineup by more than six points, but he had four others in the top 100. The key to his winning lineup, DMO, was well represented in his overall exposures. In fact, his three of his top-four-exposed players were from DMO. He, like we saw with petteytheft yesterday, focused on some of the underdogs with heavy exposures on teams that were playing each other (DMO vs. RW, SN vs. WE).
He got the outlier performance he needed from DMO at low-ownership, and it ended up paying off in a massive way. It appears there’s something to going heavy on some of the teams that are expected to be closely contested (in the +200 to -200 range). Courtjesters had no player above 30% in his 150 lineups, and his exposure was extremely flat. He completely faded T1, the largest favorite on the board, which I believe is par for the course in most sports for him. I’ll certainly be taking another look at his lineups in the future.

courtjesters CPT Exposures
This is more of a “play everyone at CPT” approach. He used 13 different captains at least six times in his 150 lineups. ADC and MID players used up most of his CPT exposure, but we saw over 20% of his CPT usage was with non-ADC/MID players. These exposures look similar to what Bric does: flat all the way to the bottom, and he didn’t overexpose himself to any one CPT or team.

LOL DFS Projections
Because Awesemo’s LoL DFS Projections are currently free, it isn’t too difficult to jump into tournaments and build competitive lineups, especially at lower stakes. However, if this is the only DFS game with $100K+ prize pools over the next couple weeks or months it will become sharper. Ownership will become more important. Stacking may change. The approach to different leagues — LCS vs. LPL — may even change. We will update this article as we continue to try to profit at our newest DFS sport!
