Fantasy football allow us to live out our childhood fantasy of running an NFL team. And no league comes closer to the real thing than dynasty leagues, which allow you to retain all or most of your players from one year to the next. Like an NFL GM, dynasty owners are not just concerned with the here and now but need to think years ahead: Do I have the pieces I need to make a title run this year? Or do I blow up my team and go into full rebuilding mode? Getting your dynasty league fantasy football league rankings in line is critical to your success — not only for this year, but years to come.
Dynasty’s emphasis on the long-term leads to vastly different strategy considerations, e.g. scouting and holding onto young talent well before they are actually “startable” is critical. As is strategic management of future draft picks to ensure that your team peaks at the right time. The long-term nature of the league also leads to greater emotional investment and more passionate owners. One lapse in judgment can saddle you with laughingstock status for years. For all those reasons, we consider dynasty leagues to be the ultimate fantasy football format.
