Week 16 Fantasy Football Injury Report & News Updates Today

The recent COVID-19 outbreaks across the NFL has created chaos in the NFL fantasy football streets. With all of the craziness surrounding Week 16, we need to look into the NFL injury report and break down who we can trust. Below I’ve analyzed all of the injury news updates, and given some start/sit advice for your lineups heading into the first week of the 2021 fantasy football playoffs.

Week 16 Fantasy Football Injury Report & News Updates Today

Tyler Huntley  – QB – Baltimore Ravens

This week will mark the second straight game without Lamar Jackson. Huntley is expected to be the starter against the Bengals even though he missed practice on Friday with an illness that is not related to COVID. Last week against the Packers, Huntley played a close to perfect game having 28 completions on 40 targets for 215 yards and two touchdowns. As well as having 13 rushes for 73 yards and two touchdowns. While they lost the game because coach John Harbaugh is enamored with going for two instead of going to overtime, Huntley continues to impress. Fire him up with confidence this week against the Bengals.

Rhamondre Stevenson – RB – New England Patriots

Stevenson has been placed on the COVID list and will be out on Sunday. Damien Harris is in line to start but is questionable with a hamstring injury. Where we are sitting right now against the Bills, Harris is a running back that is start-worthy but is far from exciting. If Harris can’t play then we move to Brandon Bolden or J.J. Taylor, who at that point, you should just look elsewhere at running back.

Joe Mixon – RB – Cincinnati Bengals

Mixon did not receive an injury designation for his matchup against the Ravens this week. He was able to practice on Thursday and Friday, the biggest worry about Mixon is no longer an injury, but his production recently. While he had a very strong stretch of games from Week 6 until Week 12, over the last three games he has failed to eclipse ten half-PPR points. Last week against the Broncos he had 17 rushes for 58 yards and one reception for two yards. We should still be starting Mixon but our expectations should be lowered based upon recent performances.

Emmanuel Sanders – WR – Buffalo Bills

With Gabriel Davis and Cole Beasley out, Sanders has been catapulted into a very solid situation. This week facing the Patriots while it is far from an ideal matchup the situation elevates Sanders to close to must-start territory.

Nick Foles – QB – Chicago Bears

Head coach Matt Nagy stated that Foles will be the Bears starter this week against the Seahawks. This comes as the result of Justin Fields not being able to practice and Andy Dalton being ruled out with a hand injury. This will damage the upside of Darnell Mooney as Foles is not as good of a quarterback as Fields. In terms of starting Foles unless you are in an extremely deep league, there are virtually zero reasons to start him.

Jared Goff – QB – Detroit Lions

Head coach Dan Cambell stated that Goff is highly unlikely to play this week against the Falcons. This was someone who streams quarterbacks’ dream matchup for Goff to have another great performance. The Lions are riding hot after convincingly beating the Cardinals. In terms of the other noteworthy players on the Lions, this does have a negative effect on Amon-Ra St.Brown who has been a target monster. With Tim Boyle under center, the offense is likely to not run as smoothly.

D’Andre Swift – RB – Detroit Lions

Swift is listed as questionable this week. If he was given the nod to play then you are forced into a scenario where you have to play him. The matchup against the Falcons is just too good to leave a player of Swifts skill set on the bench. If he is not able to go we should fade both Jamaal Williams and Craig Reynolds due to it being a committee system.

Jake Fromm – QB – New York Giants

The Giants are very likely to let Fromm start this week over Mike Glennon which based upon how bad Glennon has been would make sense. In terms of fantasy, there are virtually zero reasons to start Fromm this week, and starting any receivers on the team is extremely risky.
