Top 2021 Fantasy Football Quarterback Sleepers

Trey Lance, 49ers — 90.5 Sleeper Score — ADP 163.5/Rank 73

The 49ers are yet to announce a starting quarterback for this season, but early indications are that Jimmy Garoppolo will get the nod. While this is not ideal for Lance’s median fantasy outcome, this does not change his ceiling. Putting too much weight into the preseason is not a great way to evaluate players, but it is notable that Lance proved he has plenty of arm strength and is capable of making throws that not many quarterbacks are.

Garoppolo is a known commodity at this point in his career, and he is not going to win games on his own. There is still a strong chance that he will get benched or injured, which would open the door for Lance to take over the job. Injuries limited Garoppolo to just six games last season, and he has played six games or fewer in three of his four seasons in San Francisco.

Daniel Jones, Giants — 55 Sleeper Score — ADP 192/Rank 137

What makes Jones worth drafting is his rushing upside. He will make plenty of mistakes and turn the ball over, but it comes with more fantasy potential than meets the eye. Jones rushed for 423 yards last year, and he would have had an even more impressive rushing line had he not tripped on his way to a potential 88-yard touchdown run. And now he has more talent around him. The offensive line is still suspect, although the Giants signed Kenny Golladay in the offseason and are getting Saquon Barkley back from a torn ACL.

Carson Wentz, Colts — 51 Sleeper Score — ADP 192/Rank 141

It feels like a lifetime ago that Wentz was good. Wentz injured his knee in 2017 when he was an MVP candidate. From there, Nick Foles took over at quarterback and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl. The reality is that this was not too long ago. Wentz burned out in Philadelphia but finds himself in a good situation with the Colts. Most importantly, the Colts have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Wentz’s career is plagued by injuries, and this line should help keep him upright. The change of scenery could elevate him from going undrafted in leagues and back to relevance.
