Week 14 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Running Backs: Tony Pollard & Cordarrelle Patterson

Running back has been a highly variable position this year, so analyzing matchups becomes all the more important for fantasy football. Below we will break down the NFL fantasy football rankings and go over the Week 14 fantasy football start ’em/sit ’em running backs.

Week 14 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Running Backs

Must Start: Tony Pollard — Cowboys at Washington

With Ezekiel Elliott projected to not be 100% healthy for at least the next three weeks, Pollard should continue to get more work. Last week against the Saints Elliott out-touched Pollard, but not by a wide margin. Even with Elliott touching the ball more, Pollard easily outscored him. While this does not mean Elliott should sit, Pollard is going to get enough workload to succeed.

Must Start: Cordarrelle Patterson — Falcons at Panthers

Patterson had somewhat of a letdown game last week against the Buccaneers, scoring just 11.1 half-PPR points on 96 total yards. This week facing the Panthers should be a bounce-back spot for Patterson, as Cam Newton playing for Carolina could lead to a very high-scoring game. Matt Ryan also played better last week, and if he is able to catch fire, Patterson could easily finish as a top-five back.

Must Start: Devonta Freeman — Ravens at Browns

Over the last seven weeks, Freeman has become the lead back on the Ravens. Last week against the Steelers he had 14 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown and five receptions on eight targets for 45 yards. This week he faces the Browns, who they played in Week 12. In that game Freeman had 16 carries for 52 yards. Though, everything went wrong in that game, as Lamar Jackson threw four interceptions. This should be a much better showing for Jackson, and Freeman’s numbers should be closer to last week’s.

Must Sit: Adrian Peterson — Seahawks at Texans

Peterson joined the Seahawks last week and scored a touchdown despite running for just 16 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown. He also fumbled once. This week he faces the Texans, which should be an easy matchup, but with the return of Alex Collins, staying away from Peterson is the best bet.

Must Sit: Devin Singletary — Bills at Buccaneers

Last week the Bills faced the Patriots in what may have been the weirdest game of the season. With such heavy wind, both teams had to commit to an aggressive running approach, which made Matt Breida, Devin Singletary and Zack Moss all interesting starts last week. However, all of them were huge busts. With this being a three-man backfield, staying away from all backs is the move here.
