Week 6 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Tight Ends: Dawson Knox & T.J. Hockenson

Looking towards Week 6 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into the matchups to discern the positive or negative impact a given matchup will have on tight ends. Below is the Week 6 start ’em sit ’em tight ends based on their matchups.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Must Start: Ricky Seals-Jones — Washington vs. Chiefs

Seals-Jones is far from an exciting name, but the matchup is juicy enough to take a risk. The Chiefs just got trounced by Dawson Knox and the Bills, so it is entirely possible  that will happen again with Seals-Jones. Last week Seals-Jones was targeted nine times, catching five for 41 yards. He should get similar volume this week in what projects to be a high-scoring matchup between great offenses and terrible pass defenses.

Must Start: Dawson Knox — Bills at Titans

Knox continues perform game in and game out. He is currently the TE3 in half PPR, and there are no signs of him slowing down. Last week against the Chiefs he had his first 100-yard game of the season, with 117 yards and one touchdown on three catches. This week he faces the 25th-ranked pass defense by DVOA, so Knox should continue to roll.

Must Start: T.J. Hockenson — Lions vs. Bengals

Hockenson has been a disaster aside from the first two weeks of the season. While he is a must-start, this is likely the final week where he will be in this category if he does not perform this week. Last week against the Vikings he had two receptions on three targets for 22 yards. Again, this is his last chance, but it would not be a surprise if he is heavily involved in this game.

Must Sit: Robert Tonyan — Packers at Bears

Tonyan has been a complete bust this season. Last year the reason he was such a fantasy football success was because of his touchdown numbers, scoring six touchdowns in the final seven games of the season. This year he has just one touchdown, which came in Week 2. While there is always a hope he will get back on the touchdown streak, for now Tonyan is entirely droppable.

Must Sit: Cole Kmet — Bears vs. Packers

Kmet suffers from the same issue that Allen Robinson has. While they should both be vital parts of the Bears offense, the team does not throw enough for them to have value. Since Week 1 Kmet has failed to have anywhere close to a solid showing. Even though Justin Fields is a step up from Andy Dalton, the team appears to be keyed in on running the football. With David Montgomery out and Damien Williams on the COVID-19 list, Chicago will still run excessively with Khalil Herbert. The strong commitment to the run makes it impossible to start any pass catchers on the Bears.
