Top 3 Week 13 Defense Rankings & D/ST Streaming Options | Fantasy Football 2021

The fantasy playoffs are right around the corner. If you are trying to fight your way into a spot in your league, every point counts. Let’s try to give you an edge at the defense/special teams (D/ST) position with the following three streamers to consider, each of which is still available in the majority of leagues. Also, check out the Awesemo projections to see what is projected for all of the teams that will be in action.

Week 13 Fantasy Football Streaming D/ST Rankings

Indianapolis Colts (49% available)

The Colts are not technically available in the majority of leagues, but with them being available in a tick under half, it is worth checking the waiver wire for them. Before being torched for 38 points by the Buccaneers in Week 12, they had allowed 17 points or fewer in back-to-back games. That included an impressive performance in which they held the Bills to 15 points.

With that being said, the reason to target the Colts D/ST is an excellent matchup against the Texans that awaits them in Week 13. The last time these two teams met, the Texans only scored 3 points. They scored 14 points in a loss to the Jets last week, lowering the average for the season to a league-worst 14.9 points per game. The return of Tyrod Taylor at quarterback has not made much of a difference given that he has recorded 505 yards passing, two touchdowns and four interceptions over the last three games.

Philadelphia Eagles (55% available)

The Eagles lost last week, but it was not their defense’s fault. They held the Giants to just 13 points despite Jalen Hurts often putting them in a tough spot, throwing three interceptions. Their defense has played well for an extended stretch, allowing 13 or fewer points in three of their last five games. Part of the reason for their success has been not having to be on the field as much, with the Eagles offense controlling the game on the ground.

Look for the Eagles to get back to their ground game in a great matchup against the Jets, who have allowed the sixth-most yards rushing per game in the league. When the Jets do get the ball on offense, expect them to have a difficult time scoring given that they have averaged only 18.1 points per game. They also turn the ball over a lot, including the 10 interceptions thrown by rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. Even if the Jets turn to Joe Flacco at quarterback for this game, the Eagles defense could thrive.

Minnesota Vikings (85% available)

The Vikings defense is coming off of back-to-back games in which they have allowed at least 31 points, so they might not seem like a great option to stream. Injuries have hampered their defensive front, and things were further complicated when Everson Griffen was placed on the reserve/non-football injury list last week. They are hoping to get back Dalvin Tomlinson this week, who has been on the reserve/COVID-19 list since last Tuesday.

Even with all of their issues, a matchup against the Lions could be a cure-all. The first time these two teams met, the Lions were limited to 17 points. The Lions have been putrid on offense, failing to score at least 20 points in every game following a 33-point outburst in Week 1. Their offense could be further compromised if D’Andre Swift (shoulder) is unable to play. He has been their top offensive weapon, recording 984 total yards and six total touchdowns. If the Colts and Eagles are not available, at least the Vikings are likely to be.
