Top 3 Week 17 Defense Rankings & D/ST Streaming Options | Fantasy Football 2021

Week 17 means it is time for the fantasy championship round in most leagues. It has been wild times with COVID-19 sidelining several key players across the league, which has made streaming players even more important. If looking to stream a defense/special team (D/ST), considering the following options that are still available in the majority of leagues. Also, check out the Awesemo projections to see what is projected for all of the teams that will be in action.

Week 17 Fantasy Football Streaming D/ST Rankings

Chicago Bears (87% available)

It has been a rough season for the Bears, who enter this matchup with a 5-10 record. Their offense has been a mess, but their defense has not been great either. They have allowed an average of 24.9 points per game, which is the ninth-highest mark in the NFL. They are not generating many turnovers either, with just six interceptions. If there is a bright side, it is that their 42 sacks are tied for the fifth most in the league.

That sack total could be key for their Week 17 matchup against the Giants, who have among the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Their offense has been inept in general for much of the season. It has been even worse lately with Daniel Jones (neck) out. They tried Jake Fromm last week but ultimately had to go back to Mike Glennon, who led their offense to just 6 points the week prior. Make no mistake about it; the Bears are the top D/ST streaming option this week.

Carolina Panthers (64% available)

The Panthers defense started off the season playing very well, but they have allowed at least 27 points in five straight games. To no surprise, they lost each of those contests. Their last two games came against the Bills and Buccaneers, so the schedule has not exactly worked in their favor.

Their defense could be in a nice spot to bounce back against the Saints, who are dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19 that left them without quarterbacks Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian against the Dolphins on Monday Night Football. With Ian Brook at the helm they scored just 3 points. Even if Hill or Siemian can return for this game, the Saints offense does not have many viable weapons outside of Alvin Kamara, which has contributed to them scoring 17 points or fewer in four of their last five games.

Seattle Seahawks (62% available)

The Seahawks suffered an embarrassing loss to the Bears at home Sunday. The Bears started third-string quarterback Nick Foles, although he is definitely the best third-string quarterback in the league. Allen Robinson (COVID-19) was also out, leaving their already limited offense in even worse shape. The Bears still managed to score 25 points, including two touchdowns rushing.

As bad as that loss was, the Seahawks defense has a chance to rebound against the Lions, who were held to 16 points by the Falcons last week. The Lions have only averaged 17.3 points per game, which is the fourth fewest in the NFL. This game will be played in Seattle, which is noteworthy given that the Lions offense has been even more inept on the road, averaging just 14.9 points across eight games. If the Bears or Panthers are not available, taking a chance on the Seahawks could pay off.
