Top 3 Week 7 Defense Rankings & D/ST Streaming Options | Fantasy Football 2021

Six teams will be on a bye in Week 7, which could make filling out NFL fantasy football lineups difficult. Three of the teams have defense/special teams (D/ST) that are rostered in at least 84% of leagues, so you might need to hit the waiver wire for a replacement. Here are three D/STs that are still available in the majority of fantasy football leagues that could thrive based on their respective matchups. Also, check out the Awesemo projections to see the Week 7 defense rankings for all of the teams that will be in action.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Streaming Defenses & D/ST Options

New Orleans Saints (50% available)

The Saints were on a bye in Week 6, which forced them to be dropped in many leagues. They had been excellent prior to their week off, allowing just 18.2 points per game. Also, despite playing in one fewer game than most teams, they have the third-most interceptions (nine). If there is a downside to their defense, it is that they have only generated eight sacks.

Coming out of their bye, they will play the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. They will have certainly had plenty of time to prepare for the matchup. The Seahawks struggled offensively with Russell Wilson (finger) out against the Steelers, scoring just 20 points in their loss. Geno Smith threw for only 209 yards and one touchdown. The only real jolt for their offense was running back Alex Collins, who ran for 101 yards and a touchdown. He could find tough sledding in this game, with the Saints allowing the second-fewest yards rushing per game. If he cannot get going on the ground, expect the Seahawks to have a difficult time scoring.

Arizona Cardinals (50% available)

With their offense leading the way, the Cardinals defense has not exactly garnered a lot of headlines. However, they have only allowed an average of 18.2 points per game. Their defense has thrived on generating pressure, registering 17 sacks in the early going. They have also allowed only three touchdowns rushing, which is tied for the third fewest in the league.

As far as favorable matchups go, it does not get much better than the Texans, who the Cardinals will take on in Week 7. They scored just 3 points against the Colts last week, marking the third time this season that they have scored fewer than 10 points in a game. It does not help that Davis Mills has been sacked 12 times across his four starts. Also, he has six interceptions over his last three games. With the high likelihood that he will have to throw a lot in this game to keep up with Kyler Murray, the Cardinals could generate plenty of sacks and turnovers.

Green Bay Packers (51% available)

The Packers took care of business against the Bears on Sunday, marking their fifth straight victory. During their winning streak, they held four of their opponents to 22 points or fewer. They have developed one of the stingiest pass defenses in the league, allowing the fourth-fewest yards through the air per game.

Their ability to stop the pass is noteworthy for Week 7, as is their matchup against Washington. Washington is beat up at running back, with Antonio Gibson suffering a calf injury in Week 6. If he is unable to play, they would likely have to turn their backfield over to J.D. McKissic, who is known more for his ability to catch passes then rack up yards on the ground. Add in this being a home game for the Packers, and Washington could be in trouble.
