Week 10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Jordan Howard & Nyheim Hines

Week 10 has four teams on bye. With the Texans and Bears being two of them, though, it might not exactly be a huge blow to fantasy managers given their lack of fantasy-relevant players. That is good news given the limited options on waivers this late in the season. If you do need some reinforcements, here are some players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of leagues. Fantasy Football: Week 10 NFL Waiver Wire Pickups

Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles (91% available)

The Eagles went with a run-heavy approach in their loss to the Chargers on Sunday, rushing 39 times in the game. Howard accounted for 17 of those attempts, finishing with 71 yards and a touchdown. He is splitting duties with Boston Scott, but across two games with Miles Sanders (ankle) out, Howard has a total of 29 carries for 128 yards and three touchdowns. While a tough matchup against the Broncos is on tap for Week 10, Howard’s new role makes him one of the top running back targets.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 1 (5% of FAAB budget)

Nyheim Hines, Indianapolis Colts (57% available)

The downside with Howard is that he is not involved in the passing game, which hurts him in PPR leagues. The same cannot be said of Hines, who has 35 targets across nine games. He is coming off an excellent game against the Jets in which he caught four passes for 34 yards and rushed six times for 74 yards and a touchdown. He is clearly behind Jonathan Taylor in the Colts backfield, but a favorable matchup against the Jaguars this week makes Hines appealing.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 2 (3%-5% of FAAB budget)

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens (75% available)

Bateman did not exactly have a monster performance against the Vikings, catching five passes for 52 yards. However, he did receive eight targets, giving him 20 across the three games he has played this season. That type of volume could lead to a big week against the Dolphins, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers in PPR formats.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 3 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (91% available)

After missing two games with a concussion, Hill made his return Sunday against the Falcons. He served as backup to Trevor Siemian, completing both of his pass attempts for 33 yards. He also added one carry for 4 yards. The Saints lost to the Falcons and needed a furious late comeback to even make the game close. It would not be a surprise to see Hill eventually be named the starting quarterback, so adding him now could pay off in the long run. Across four starts last season, he had four touchdowns passing, 209 yards rushing and four touchdowns rushing.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 4 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Elijah Moore, New York Jets (85% available)

Improved quarterback play and the absence of Corey Davis (hip) the last two weeks have proven to be a boon for Moore. He totaled 14 targets, catching 13 of them for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Davis could be back in Week 10, which might deal a hit to Moore’s targets. Also, it is unclear who will start at quarterback after Mike White suffered a forearm injury. However, Moore has shown his upside makes him at least worth considering.

Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars (83% available)

The biggest upset of Week 9 was the Jaguars knocking off the Bills. It was a low-scoring affair in which the teams combined for just 15 points, which did not lead to many favorable fantasy lines. However, Arnold had another strong showing, catching four passes for 60 yards. He has been targeted 17 times over the last two games, posting 12 catches for 128 yards. The Jaguars should have to throw a lot as they play catchup in games, so Arnold could maintain fantasy value moving forward.

Week 10 Waiver Wire Priority: 6 (1% of FAAB budget)

Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons (84% available)

The Falcons have a massive hole to fill at wide receiver with Calvin Ridley (personal) out. Gage stepped up to help fill the void Sunday, catching seven of eight targets for 64 yards. It marked the second time in the last three games that he received at least six targets and had at least 64 yards. The problem is, he did not get a single target two weeks ago. He is risky, but in a potentially high-scoring game against the Cowboys in Week 10, he could be worth adding in deeper formats.
