Top 5 Week 5 Streaming Quarterback Options | Fantasy Football 2021

Streaming quarterbacks has become a popular strategy in the fantasy football realm over the years. Finding the perfect matchup for a waiver wire quarterback is difficult given how much the NFL varies from week to week. Here we will discuss five of the best Week 5 streaming quarterbacks that are likely on the waiver wire for NFL fantasy football.

Week 5 Fantasy Football Streaming Quarterbacks

Sam Darnold — Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Darnold is currently leading the NFL in touchdowns rushing, and now there is some serious rushing floor that needs to be baked into Darnold’s value week in and week out. Those touchdowns have helped him be a top-five fantasy quarterback. Last week against the Cowboys he went 26-for-39 for 301 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and ran for 35 yards and two more touchdowns. Continue to ride the Darnold train, as this week against the Eagles could be a slugfest between two solid offensive teams. Patrick Mahomes picked apart the Eagles defense last week. Darnold also gets a nice bonus since he plays the Vikings, Giants and Falcons in his next three games, which should be smash matchups.

Taylor Heinicke — Washington Football Team vs. New Orleans Saints

Heinicke deserves immense praise for what he has done, and he is now QB13 in fantasy. Last week against the Falcons Heinicke went 23-for-33 for 290 yards and three touchdowns and added 43 yards the ground. The Saints could not stop Daniel Jones last week, so the expectations should be high for Heinicke this week. While the addition of Curtis Samuel from the injured reserve was not huge last week, he should be a key piece in this offense going forward.

Trey Lance — San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals

With Jimmy Garoppolo suffering a calf injury during Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, it is officially the Lance era. Whether or not he remains the starter when Garoppolo returns is entirely up to Lance’s play. This week he faces the Cardinals in Arizona, which should be an interesting first start. The Cardinals defense looked stout against the Rams, but it seemed as though questionable play calling by Sean McVay kept Los Angeles out of the end zone. This is not to discredit the Cardinals defense, but it does open the possible for Lance to have a huge game, especially with his immense rushing upside. Last week in relief of Garoppolo Lance went 9-for-18 passing for 157 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 41 yards on seven rushes. With the weapons around Lance in Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, there is no secret as to why he could be successful.

Daniel Jones — New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys defense is no longer a pushover, but despite the strong defensive matchup, the Giants may have finally figured things out. Jones went 28-for-40 for 402 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in overtime against the Saints. This could easily be a high-scoring game between these two division rivals, leading to a solid showing from Jones. His rushing floor also makes it difficult for him to completely bust on a given week.

Matt Ryan — Atlanta Falcons vs. New York Jets

With Cordarrelle Patterson looking like Julio Jones, Ryan is starting to return to his old self. In Week 4 against the Washington Football Team, he went 25-for-42 for 283 yards and four touchdowns. Last week the Jets got their first win on the season, but that is likely due to the injuries that plagued the Titans. Without A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, it was hard for the offense to get moving. Fire Ryan up this week as a potential top-12 quarterback.
