Josh Jacobs is one of the more interesting players in all of fantasy football right now. Despite having an excellent 2020 season, he continues to fall down drafts. The reason behind this fall is the addition of Kenyan Drake. So the question is, can Jacobs still be a top fantasy option with Drake, or should fantasy players look elsewhere in the early rounds? We will look at his 2020 production and use the NFL fantasy football projections to see where he will finish in 2021 fantasy football.

Jacobs’ Production in 2020
Last year Jacobs rushed 273 times (third among running backs) for 1,064 yards (eighth). He added 33 receptions (22nd) on 45 targets (23rd) for 239 yards (23), scoring 12 total touchdowns (fourth). Contrary to preseason expectations, Jacobs did not see an increase in receiving volume whatsoever.
Raiders Offseason Changes
One of the biggest offseason splashes for the Raiders was the addition of Drake. While Drake struggled as a fantasy football producer last year, he was still a solid back in Arizona. Getting over 1,000 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns made his season not a complete wash. The Raiders bringing in Drake was shocking given they got rid of much of their offensive line. They have since acquired more offensive linemen, but it still was a questionable move.
Jacobs’ Outlook in 2021
With the addition of Drake, much of Jacobs’ upside has been thrown away. Last year showed that Jacobs does not have much receiving upside, and he now has real competition around him that he did not have in his first two seasons in the NFL. This makes Jacobs a tough draft selection anywhere in the first four rounds. While in many best ball formats he is falling to the sixth round, in most redraft leagues he is going much earlier. Unless he falls to the sixth round, avoiding Jacobs is the right call.
