Chris Paddack
Paddack should see healthy ownership in tournaments (and cash-games) because of his excellent matchup versus the Rockies. However, he comes into tonight as one of the best options on the slate, as he has a solid 26.4% K-rate with a 4.07 xFIP. The Rockies, on the other hand, have been poor against righties all season. In 2019, they have a 23.1% K-rate versus RHP with just an 84 wRC+. The ability to go deep into games has kept him from the top-tier, but at this price, he’s a viable option on 2-pitcher sites especially.
Joe Musgrove
Another slate, another matchup where Musgrove is underpriced and in a decent matchup. How good of a value he is will depend on the amount of righties in the Cardinals’ lineup, but it should be at least a few, and looking at the Cardinals’ active roster versus righties (23.1% K-rate, 87 wRC+), they’re one of the best teams for any RHP. Because of his favorable price, Musgrove won’t go unnoticed, but with few low-priced options, it’ll be hard to get away from him in tournaments when trying to pay up for bats.
Charlie Morton
Morton leads the slate in K-rate at 30.2% for 2019, and tonight’s matchup is solid. He’ll be in pitcher-friendly Seattle tonight going up against the team that has a top-5 K% against righties for the season. The earned runs against Morton are concerning as of late, but the Mariners are a phenomenal matchup for a fantastic pitcher like Morton, especially as a big favorite. He will likely grade out as the best raw-point option on Awesemo’s projections when they come out, so he’s a quality option in all formats on tonight’s main slate.
