MLB DFS Picks, Roses of the Day! FanDuel and DraftKings: June 24 (FREE)

Welcome to the MLB DFS Roses of the Day, a column highlight some MLB picks for FanDuel and DraftKings.

My name is Chris Randone and if you ever watched The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, then you know getting a rose means everything. It symbolized the guy or girl giving them out has an interest in you. When you get a rose, it means you survive to keep fighting for love.

Well in daily fantasy sports it’s no different. We go through a list of players deciding who will survive and make the cut into our lineups. These players fight to help us win. A true definition of love. I’ve learned being on the show that you never give out roses just for fun, there has to be a meaning behind it. We’ll take that same approach here. Tonight’s rose ceremony I’ll give my Top Stack, Top Pitcher, Surprise Pitcher, & Surprise Stack of this main slate.

Surprise Stack

The Los Angeles Dodgers, will you accept this rose?

The Dodgers currently rank second in ISO (.213) and wOBA (.346) against right-handed pitching this season and they get to face a recently struggling pitcher in Zach Grienke. The Diamondbacks ace owns a .228 BABIP and has seen a decline in his CS&W as of late dropping 2.1% over his last 30 days, second highest amongst pitchers on this slate. Dodgers have three batters in top-20 ISO against right-handed pitching: Joc Pederson (.363), David Freeze (.340), Cody Bellinger (.339). Los Angeles ranks first in all of baseball with a 116 wRC+ against righties this season.

Surprise Pitcher

Julio Teheran, will you accept this rose?

Julio Teheran will face the Cubs who hold the second highest implied run total (6.4) on tonight’s slate. However, outside of his last start, Teheran’s previous eight starts were solid, with a .081 ERA and giving up zero home runs during that stretch. The Braves righty owns a 35.8 hard hit percentage and will face a Cubs lineup that possesses five batters striking out over 26.8 percent. Chicago ranks outside the top-10 in ISO (.178) , wOBA (.330), and wRC+ (102). The Cubs are projected to run five lefties in the lineup and Teheran has given up only two home runs to left slide of the plate all season. Teheran will be no where to found on ownership and could be a sneaky play.

Surprise Pitcher

Drew Pomeranz, will you accept this rose?

The San Francisco southpaw hasn’t been good this year but tonight brings an interesting matchup. The Colorado Rockies come into San Francisco ranked second worst in strikeout percentage (29.5%) against left handed pitching on the road this season. Pomeranz has seen an increase in his CS&W (Currently 27.3%, Previously 25.5%) over the last 30 days. The Giants lefty has produced two solid outings his last two home starts where he gave up zero earned runs and struck out 10. The Rockies own the second lowest run implied total (4.4) on tonight’s slate. On Draftkings, Pomeranz plays nicely as a SP2 or a surprise play on Fanduel if you’re looking to load up on bats.
