Sunday, Aug. 7, wraps up the weekend with an intriguing featured slate with a 1:35 p.m. ET first pitch followed by a solid four game second act this afternoon. Let’s get into the top MLB DFS picks today for pitchers and stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy baseball lineups.
DraftKings & FanDuel MLB DFS Picks Today (8/7)
Main Slate: Baltimore Orioles vs. RHP Bryse Wilson — 5.2 implied runs
The Stokastic Top Batters Tool is giving high marks to outfielders Cedric Mullins and Anthony Santander along with catcher Adley Rutschman and first baseman Ryan Mountcastle. This should be no surprise based on how poorly Bryse Wilson has been pitching as well as this quartet each having an elite .200 ISO against right-handed hurlers in their last 160+ plate appearances.
On Tuesday against Milwaukee Wilson allowed only three runs, though it was courtesy of three solo shots by opposite-handed batsmen in the sixth inning. Wilson has logged 61 innings this season with a 6.20 ERA, 1.57 WHIP accompanied by a pedestrian 6.2 strikeouts per nine innings rate. It is going to be in the low-90s this afternoon in Camden Yards with heavy humidity and a 10-12 mph breeze out to left field. Enjoy!
Mid-Afternoon Slate: Boston Red Sox at RHP Brad Keller — 5.2 implied runs
During the first three seasons of his MLB career, Brad Keller was known for limiting home runs allowing just 24 in 360.1 innings for a 0.59 per nine innings rate. While that rate has ticked up to around league average over the last two seasons, Keller still has a 50% groundball rate. However, his lack of strikeout stuff has also saddled him with a 79.2% contact rate and has him pitching behind in the count nearly 52% of the time.
The focus should be on the heart of the order today with Rafael Devers, Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez and Alex Verdugo being the core four to target. Recent acquisitions Tommy Pham and Eric Hosmer can be used to round out a full-stack or if any of the regulars get a day of rest on Sunday. Youngster Jarren Duran is worth a look as a salary saver on DraftKings ($3,000) and FanDuel ($2,900) if he is batting leadoff.
Late Slate: Seattle Mariners vs. LHP Tucker Davidson — 5.0 implied runs
This afternoon the Mariners will be facing Tucker Davidson who came over from Atlanta as part of the Raisel Iglesias deal. Davidson was a middling prospect with Atlanta, though the southpaw did see his development curtailed by the 2020 MiLB season shutdown during the pandemic. He has made nine appearances in The Show spanning 37 innings allowing four home runs, a 5.11 ERA with 1.57 baserunners per inning and only 30 strikeouts.
Seattle has been one of the better teams in the league against lefties this season and the Stokastic Top Stacks Tool is highlighting them on the afternoon slate. Mitch Haniger returned to action last night and though he is a little rusty, he was the Mariners best hitter before rookie Julio Rodriguez blossomed in his absence. Ty France, Eugenio Suarez and switch-hitting catcher Cal Raleigh are all above average options with the platoon-advantage. Jesse Winker can hold his own in lefty-lefty matchups and he can be employed as part of a full-stack if he is batting in the top half of the order this afternoon.

Best MLB DFS Pitchers
Primary Target: RHP Aaron Nola vs. Washington Nationals — 3.5 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $9,500 | FanDuel $10,600
This iteration of the Nationals lineup looks even worse on the field than it does on paper with Juan Soto and Josh Bell now in San Diego. Their best hitter is arguably 42-year-old Nelson Cruz who likely will get the day off with Aaron Nola on the mound, leaving Luke Voit to carry the torch as the most experienced hitter in the lineup today.
The projected lineup has a 27.7% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching over the last two seasons which lines up perfectly for Nola who has a 29.4% strikeout rate himself in the same timeframe. It seems all but preordained that Washington will be no-hit before the end of the season and Nola does not have that particular milestone on his resume. Corbin Burnes against Cincinnati is the clear pivot if you are not a fan of Nola.
Secondary Target: RHP Drew Rasmussen at Detroit Tigers — 3.5 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $7,400 | FanDuel $8,200
Drew Rasmussen is a solid SP2 today on DraftKings and he is a fringe tournament option on FanDuel, with his success there hinging on his ability to record his fifth quality start of the season. Detroit has a woeful 71 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season. That indicates that the Tigers are creating runs 29% less efficiently than league average and nearly a full standard deviation worse than Cincinnati and Washington who are the two next worst teams. The main knock against Rasmussen is that he rarely records more than a handful of strikeouts, though his salary savings on DraftKings does mitigate that appropriately.
Afternoon Target: RHP Logan Webb at Oakland Athletics — 3.4 implied runs
- DFS Salary: DraftKings $8,500 | FanDuel $10,200
Logan Webb draws a favorable matchup in Oakland this afternoon against a scuffling Athletics offense that has scored the second fewest runs in the league at 3.4 per game. Though Webb has not been able to recapture the strikeout magic of last season, he is also averaging 94.7 pitches per game which is 10 more than his career best season which allows him to regularly work into the sixth and seventh innings and keep him in the mix for wins as well as quality starts.
Additional Opportunities
Corbin Burnes is arguably the best fantasy pitcher in action on Sunday, but a 9.5 over/under strikeout prop. is a tough ask, even for the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner. The Stokastic MLB Projections have him with 8.4 strikeouts and a 67% probability of falling under the 10 needed for the over. The Reds projected lineup does have a whopping 27.6% strikeout rate against right-handed hurlers since the start of last season, but a lot will need to break in favor of Burnes for him to record double-digit strikeouts for the ninth time in 22 starts this season.

Final MLB DFS Thoughts & MLB Weather Notes
There is rain throughout the day in Chicago, though the Cubs to head down to Miami to take on the Marlins in late September, so there is an out if this game needs to be postponed today. Aside from that one worrisome forecast, Baltimore, Minnesota and St. Louis all of slight chances of brief in-game rain, though nothing that would warrant curtailing the game outside of a potential delay.
