Main Slate

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at RHP Edwin Jackson – 4.9 implied runs

Monday will mark the sixth start and seventh appearance for RHP Edwin Jackson as the 17-year veteran is plying his craft with his fourteenth team (TOR, OAK, BAL, SDP, MIA, ATL, CHC, WAS, STL, CHW, ARZ, DET, TBR and LAD) which is  record.  Speaking of records, Jackson has been awful with a 1-4 record, a 10.22 ERA, 2.03 WHIP allowing nine home runs in 24.2 innings of work.

Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani are the obvious targets, but we can also look to Albert Pujols (who rarely receives a recommendation from me), hoping the career season run continues with Tommy La Stella and rounding things out with Cesar Puello who has been a solid addition.  If Justin Bour makes the lineup, he is a worthy play as well.  Kole Calhoun has been slumping and Justin Upton is eligible to return from the injured list after sitting out two months with a toe issue, so the lineup could have several moving parts.

Evening Slate

St Louis Cardinals vs RHP Elieser Hernandez – 5.1 implied runs

If this matchup seems familiar, it is because RHP Elieser Hernandez took on the Redbirds last Tuesday in Miami where he survived for 5.2 innings allowing six baserunners and three earned runs with seven strikeouts.  Keep an eye on the weather, but this should be a nice spot to roll with the Cardinals, particularly Matt Carpenter, Kolten Wong and Dexter Fowler as Hernandez has shown a propensity for allowing power to batters swinging the stick from the left-side of the plate allowing a .393 wOBA, .204 ISO along with an unseemly 47.5 FB%, 13.0 BB% and a low 11.8 K% across 161 batters since the beginning of last season.

He is not exactly stellar against right-handed hitters either with a 51.9 FB%, though he has a respectable 21.0 K% and 5.1 BB%.  There should be ducks on the pond tonight, so extending our stacks with Paul Goldschmidt, Marcell Ozuna, Paul DeJong and where we are required to play a catcher, Yadier Molina is an option as well if he is behind the dish.

Late Slate

Los Angeles Dodgers vs RHP Tyler Beede – 5.3 implied runs

Across his 22.1 innings in The Show so far this season, RHP Tyler Beede has been abysmal with an 8.06 ERA, 2.06 WHIP with five home runs allowed… to be fair, the 26 strikeouts have been impressive, but not enough to save him.  His 5.73 xFIP across his last 153 batters faced does not particularly portend good things ahead and he has been getting tattooed by lefties with a .454 wOBA, .250 ISO and he profiles better as a reliever than starter.

The Dodgers have a plethora of left-handed batsmen and we will want to start with Cody Bellinger, Max Muncy and Joc Pederson as our power trio and we can look to Alex Verdugo and Matthew Beaty for salary relief if they make the lineup.
