Main Slate

Kansas City Royals vs. RHP Edwin Jackson – 5.5 implied runs

The Kansas City Royals are one of the fifteen teams that RHP Edwin Jackson has not played for… yet.  Think of how amazing his career has been, 17 seasons, 15 teams and a no-hitter. This season has been a blemish for sure and he has allowed 17 home runs in just 52.0 innings.  Though nothing left the yard in his last start, he did allow eight runs, six earned and he now has a 9.35 ERA and 1.98 WHIP.

Over the last two seasons, Jackson has ceded a .246 ISO / 2.06 HR/9 to righties and a .218 ISO / 1.58 HR/9 to lefties.  Jorge Soler, Adalberto Mondesi and Hunter Dozier are once again the trio to target.  Look for differentiation with Ryan O’Hearn, Alex Gordon and Whit Merrifield.

San Francisco Giants at RHP Michael Wacha – 4.1 implied run total

Wednesday gives us an intriguing differentiation stack with the San Francisco Giants, particularly if RHP Michael Wacha is popular.  He has been hammered by same-handed batsmen over the last two seasons with a .353 wOBA / .206 ISO.  This year it has been worse (.232 ISO) and lefties are in the mix as well (.220 ISO).  We know that the Giants can get very platoon heavy and with their pricing, we can get some nice one-offs and contrarian duos.

Focus on those with power first including Brandon Belt, Mike Yastrzemski, Alex Dickerson and Kevin Pillar.  Evan Longoria and Brandon Crawford would be included if you are looking for a full stack and need some salary savings.

Late Slate

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. RHP Antonio Senzatela – 6.0 implied runs

Yes, back to the Los Angeles Dodgers in another matchup just too good to overlook.  In his final three MLB starts in July, RHP Antonio Senzatela allowed 21 runs in 11.0 innings @NYY, vs. CIN, @ARZ.  He was then sent to AAA-Albuquerque where he allowed 20 runs in 27.1 innings (6.58 ERA) with seven home runs.  He has been back in The Show for two appearances allowing six runs in each matchup @STL, vs. PIT.  It is pretty clear that Coors Field is not the only issue he is dealing with.

Over the last two seasons batters from both sides of the plate have found success against Senzatela with nearly even results.

LHB: 399 TBF, .371 wOBA, .174 ISO, 10.0 BB%, 13.0 K%

RHB: 479 TBF, .338 wOBA, .183 ISO, 8.4 BB%, 15.7 K%

Keep in mind that Joc Pederson is dealing with a bruised mid-section after running into the outfield wall on Monday.  Even if he is in the lineup, he may not be at full health.  Otherwise target Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Matt Beaty, Enrique Hernandez and A.J. Pollock all of whom have a .200+ ISO.  Rookie Gavin Lux is in play if he is leading off again as is Will Smith after getting Tuesday night off.  Finally if he cracks the lineup, Justin Turner is a solid differentiation play on all slates at the hot corner.
