Afternoon Slate
Coors Field Extravaganza – 13.0 implied runs
It is looking like a balmy afternoon in Denver for the final game in the series.
RHP Miles Mikolas has been solid this season with a 49.5 GB% and a miniscule 4.2 BB%. He does not allow a lot of power, but naturally when it does it is to lefties. Over 330 matchups against opposite-handed hitters he has allowed a .347 wOBA, .178 ISO with a pedestrian 18.8 K%. Target Charlie Blackmon, Daniel Murphy, Ryan McMahon and Raimel Tapia as the core four.
RHP Tim Melville has been better on the road than in Coors… shocker, I know. It is just a 19.2 inning sample size, but the strikeout per inning rate has been nice. Keep in mind he is the Crash Davis of pitchers having spend 11 seasons down on the farm. This is probably the last hurrah for the 29-year old, so there is no need for the Rockies to take it easy with him. Target him as you see fit with any of the Redbirds with a little pop in their bat.
Main Slate
Los Angeles Dodgers at RHP Dylan Bundy – 6.1 implied runs
On a positive note, RHP Dylan Bundy has allowed “just” 28 home runs this season. Of course, when combined with last year’s 41, he still leads the league with 69 over the last two years. In that time frame he has a .209 ISO / 1.70 HR/9 to lefties and a .261 ISO / 2.21 HR/9 to righties.
Keep in mind that the Dodgers have clinched, but they have sooooo many good players there should be something for us here. The preferred order considering price, position and potential production are A.J. Pollock, David Freese, Cody Bellinger, Joc Pederson, Enrique Hernandez, Chris Taylor, Will Smith and Jedd Gyorko.
Late Slate
Houston Astros vs. RHP Homer Bailey – 5.3 implied runs
We have seen a lot of runs scored from both teams in this series, though we Thursday’s pitchers this should be one-sided. RHP Homer Bailey has been solid though far from spectacular as the Athletics battle for the Wild Card. Focus on the lefties first, but do realize that Bailey is an innings-eater and can absorb punishment. Yordan Alvarez and Michael Brantley should be two of the first batters in our stacks. We can round things out with Alex Bregman, George Springer, Jose Altuve and super differentiation play Aledmys Diaz.
