Early Slate

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. LHP Yusei Kikuchi – 5.0 implied runs

Arrrrgh Mateys! It is National Talk like a Pirate day so how can we not stack the Bucs? As an added bonus, they are facing LHP Yusei Kikuchi who is only two back from RHP Mike Leake and fellow southpaw Matt Boyd for home runs allowed title.

On the season, Kikuchi has allowed 2.32 HR/9 to same-handed hitters and 2.09 HR/9 to righties. With a .250 ISO to both sides of the plate, we should be able to follow the map to the treasure! Bryan Reynolds, Jose Osuna and Kevin Newman are the trio to target with Starlin Marte likely out again.

Main Slate

Cleveland Indians vs. LHP Daniel Norris – 6.0 implied runs

Keep in mind that we should see LHP Daniel Norris for about three innings and then RHP Drew VerHagen for another three plus. After that, it will be double bonus time against the rest of the Tigers bullpen which is bottom three in pretty much every pitching category you can think of these days.

Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor are the two targets and it is extra nice that they are both switch-hitters, considering the Detroit lefty/righty one-two punch. Then if he is back with the team, Franmil Reyes wallops both lefties and righties so he is a prime acquisition. After that look to Yasiel Puig, Jake Bauers and Oscar Mercado.

Minnesota Twins vs. LHP Mike Montgomery – 5.9 implied runs

While LHP Mike Montgomery does a fine job of limiting power with a .152 ISO to righties and a .166 ISO to lefties, the Twins are behind only the Astros as the best team in the league against southpaws.

On the season, they have a 124 wRC+ which means that they score nearly a quarter more runs against lefties than the average team. Keep an eye on their lineup as they have been giving some key players days off recently, but this could be a goldmine for some crooked numbers.
