Maddalena is an extremely talented technical boxer, which has earned him nine-of-11 victories via knockout over the course of his UFC career. His best attribute is technical striking, however once the fight hits the mat, Maddalena is well-above average in scrambling situations. His pressure striking, undercoated with finishing abilities, coupled with his unprecedented and underrated scrambling abilities, should allow Maddalena to have success against Ramazan Emeev. The Awesemo UFC DFS projections have Maddalena as the fifth-best value on the slate.

Emeev is coming into this matchup as the underdog, after being the favorite in his previous three fights. He averages more than two takedowns per 15 minutes and will be looking to push this fight against the cage and eventually the ground, to try to slow the knockout artist in Maddalena. He will also try to empty Maddalena’s gas tank early in hopes of avoiding heavy striking exchanges.

My lean on DraftKings and FanDuel is Maddalena. However, Emeev is super dangerous on the mat. If Maddalena can avoid takedowns early and use his crisp boxing to damage Emeev, he could seal a Performance of the Night bonus. If you’re looking to roster Emeev, the best case to make is his projected 12% ownership, which is the lowest on the entire slate.

UFC DFS Pick: Jack Dalla Maddalena via Second Round KO/TKO

Weili defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk back in 2020, during a string of 21 straight victories, but since then she has lost two matches in a row, both to Rose Namajunas. Weili combines power and heavy pressure with solid wrestling ability and fight-ending ground-and-pound instincts. She has proven to be equally effective on the mat, with 10 of her 21 wins coming via knockout, along with seven via submission. Weili will look to claim another victory over Jedrzejczyk and seal her chance at being the next challenger for the strawweight title.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Jedrzejczyk has now lost four of her past six contests and has remained idle since her last fight with Zhang Weili, which won fight of the year in 2020. She has struggled of late, being outclassed since her first loss to Namajunas. Jedrzejczyk won the strawweight title in 2015 when she knocked out current champion Carla Esparza in the second round. In this matchup, Jedrzejczyk will push the pace, using her technical striking skills and high output to smoother her opponents.

I expect Jedrzejczyk’s footwork, excellent accuracy, high volume and willingness to back on top should prevail this time around, though the Awesemo projections and ownership don’t agree.

UFC DFS Pick: Joanna Jedrzejczyk via Unanimous Decision.

Shevchenko is a counter striker by nature and she has all the weapons to dispose of her competition early. She will be paired with another Muay Thai practitioner who also prefers to counter strike, which could make for an intriguing display inside the octagon. The key to this matchup could be Shevchenko’s knack for securing takedowns in her countering exchanges.

That said, if Taila Santos chooses to come in hot, then she could find herself on her back in a hurry. If Shevchenko takes Santos to the mat and somehow ends up on her back, then she cannot sleep on the skills of Santos. Shevchenko is one of the most technical fighters in the UFC and will utilize her counter striking, clinch and several other tools to disrupt her opponents rhythm.

Taila Santos

Age: 28
Height: 5-foot-1

Santos has heavy hands and devastating striking that can damage her opponents. She is extremely good at maintaining her distance and keeping heavy pressure on her opponents, using her striking to engage in a clinch in order to drag her opponents down to the canvas. Santos is an interesting opponent for Shevchenko, but the issue for Santos is that she offers nothing that Shevchenko has not already seen in her UFC career. This will be a tough one for Santos, and she will have to rise to the occasion and bring a solid game plan to have any chance against arguably the best female fighter in the UFC.

The big lean on DraftKings and FanDuel is Shevchenko. I expect Shevchenko’s counter striking and pure dominance to be more than Santos can handle. Valentina Shevchenko is FAR AND AWAY the best option on the slate, with 111 projected points on DraftKings – a full 23 points clear of the next closest fighter according to the Awesemo projections as of writing. Don’t be afraid to hit the lock button.

Teixeira has been wrestling since he was a young child in Brazil, which has allowed him to develop strong grappling defense. With his background in wresting and BJJ, he’ll be near unstoppable if the fight hits the mat.

Prochazka is coming into this matchup with impressive knockout wins over Volkan Oezdemir in 2020 and Dominick Reyes last year. He throws high volume and is extremely creative in his striking, with dangerous power that can put his opponents’ lights out in the blink of an eye. Prochazka is significantly younger than Teixeira, and should have the speed, power and cardio advantage.

However, Prochazka only has two fights in the UFC and has not faced a smart, versatile and well-round fighter like Teixeira. Prochazka’s recklessness, inexperience, and his willingness to take shots to land big shots could lead to his demise in this fight.

If Teixeira can get heavy pressure early and disrupt Prochazka’s rhythm, he could possibly land the takedown and finish Prochazka. You’re going to need to find savings here at some point, and if paying up for Schevchenko, Teixeira allows you to make the rest of your lineup more balanced.
