Welcome to The Takedown, UFC fans. Today we are back at the UFC Apex, with an interesting featherweight main event between Aspen Ladd vs. Norma Dumont. Here I offer some of my favorite MMA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel UFC lineups with the help Awesemo’s expert UFC DFS projections. So, let’s dig into some MMA DFS picks and analysis for UFC Vegas 40.

Luptia Godinez | DraftKings: $9,000, FanDuel: $19

Godinez is coming into this matchup off a dominate performance against Silvana Gomez Juarez in a submission victory. Expect Godinez to dictate the tempo with her pressure and forward movement. However, Luana Carolina is a range striker, and has nice movement with solid volume. Although, I expect Godinez will find her way inside, get the early takedowns and dominate Carolina on the ground. This fight could end with a submission, due to Godinez’s dangerous grappling game. For DFS purposes, Godinez is a solid play with a nice floor and decent upside. However, Godinez will be extremely chalky, but I expect she will get the job done once again. Awesemo’s UFC DFS DraftKings and FanDuel projections give Godinez 68% win odds.

Mid-Priced Picks

Ariane Carnelossi | DraftKings: $8,500, FanDuel: $16

Carnelossi will have the power advantage in this fight, but Istela Nunes will have the speed and reach advantage. That said, I expect Carnelossi will start quickly by pushing the pace with her high-volume striking and forward movement. If Carnelossi can catch Nunes before she settles into her rhythm, I expect the power of Carnelossi could put Nunes’ lights out early. For daily fantasy, I expect this to be a high-volume fight and both sides are fully in play. Although, I like Carnelossi’s power and head-hunting more in this fight. Awesemo’s UFC DFS projections give Carnelossi 60% win odds.

Bruno Silva | DraftKings: $8,300, FanDuel: $18

Silva is coming into this matchup on a spectacular knockout over Wellington Turman in June. He has been consistent knocking out his last five opponents and only losing once in his last 16 fights. I expect Silva will be hunting Andrew Sanchez’s chin early while overwhelming him with his power and high volume. However, Silva will need to avoid the mat facing off against a brilliant grappler such as Sanchez. For DFS, Silva is a solid play in all formats, due to his early knockout ability. Awesemo’s UFC DFS projections give Silva  59% win odds with a 43% chance for a knockout.

Norma Dumont | DraftKings: $7,800, FanDuel: $17

Dumont was scheduled to face Holly Holm, but an injury forced Holm out of the fight and left a main-event opening. Aspen Ladd got the call, moving up to featherweight where her weight issues should not be a concern. Dumont is riding a two-fight winning streak and most recently, a decision victory over Felica Spencer in May. For DFS,  Dumont will be the bigger, harder-hitting fighter, and with all the weight issues Ladd has been dealing with over the last two weeks, Dumont should be able to take advantage and get the job done. Awesemo’s UFC DFS projections give Dumont 44% win odds.
