NASCAR DFS Xfinity Picks for the Wawa 250 at Daytona International Speedway on DraftKings

The field is set for Friday evening’s race at Daytona, with A.J. Allmendinger and Noah Gragson on the front row. Let’s delve into this week’s top NASCAR DFS Xfinity picks on DraftKings for the Wawa 250.

Wawa 250 NASCAR DFS Picks for DraftKings

Jeb Burton, 13th ($9,400 DraftKings)

Austin Cindric, 14th ($8,800 DraftKings)

Christopher Bell, 15th ($8,900 DraftKings)

This trio of Burton, Cindric and Bell makes a tournament tier of underpriced potential winners.

  • Burton is the most recent winner of Talladega and finished fourth at Daytona back in February. Not to mention, Kaulig has always had a strong superspeedway program in its short existence.
  • Cindric won this year’s first race at Daytona, finished second at Talladega and has multiple top-10s to his name at both venues.
  • Bell, though he has no wins at superspeedways in his Xfinity career, did manage to bring home multiple top-six finishes.

Playing one or more of these drivers is going to be off most DFS players’ radars, as they are deemed too risky. However, last summer’s optimal lineup had two drivers who both started in the top 10. These three all carry more place differential and have the potential to finish within the top five, if not an outright win. On DraftKings Sportsbook Bell and Cindric are both +800 for the win and -105 for a top-five finish. Meanwhile, Burton is +1200 for the victory and +170 for a top-five.

Michael Annett, 19th ($9,800 DraftKings)

Unlike the Cup Series, the regular season for the Xfinity Series will not conclude this evening. However, after missing last week’s race, the temperature has turned up for Annett. For those unaware, Annett suffered a leg injury earlier in the summer that forced him to get surgery to fix the issue. In recovering from this surgery, Annett has had to miss a few races. These absences have put him in a points hole, now 41 points behind Riley Herbst for the final playoff spot. An outright win will ease any points concern for Annett. However, a good finish on Friday will go a long way in erasing this points gap.

As per Annett, he is a previous Daytona winner (2019) who finished seventh in this race last summer and crossed the line in second place at Talladega last fall.

Brandon Brown, 31st ($10,100 DraftKings)

Paying this salary for this driver may feel absurd. However, realize that DraftKings is aware its user will stack the back. That is why DFS players are paying $10,000+ for a driver in mid-tier equipment.

That said, this really is not that absurd of an ask for Brown at this salary. Brown’s career at Daytona started off rocky, with back-to-back wrecks in 2017 and 2018. However, since then his finishes have gone 18th, seventh, seventh, 26th and sixth. Furthermore, in four career starts at Talladega, he has gone 15th, 11th, 10th and seventh. If it were not for the driver below, Brown could easily pull of Friday night’s highest fantasy score thanks to this abundance of potential place differential.

Chase Briscoe, 37th ($11,500 DraftKings)

Racing for B.J. McLeod in what will literally be a second Stewart-Haas car, Briscoe makes a spot start in the Xfinity Series. Whatever the motive, it does not necessarily matter because Briscoe is offering the best combo of floor and ceiling of anyone on Friday. Starting in the 37th position, Briscoe has access to the highest place differential potential of anyone. Throw in his actual opportunity to lead laps and contend for a victory (third and fifth in last year’s two Xfinity races at Daytona), then he becomes a no-brainer. The only issue for Briscoe will be his ownership, pegged to be one of the highest on Friday’s slate. Exceeding, matching or going under the field’s ownership on Briscoe is going to be one of the biggest decisions for DFS players today.

Tim Viens, 40th ($5,500 DraftKings)

Viens has spent the majority of his short career in the Trucks Series buying what seat time was available. This week, in just his fourth career Xfinity start, Veins gets behind the wheel of the No. 74 for Mike Harmon. This will be Viens’ second start in the Xfinity Series at Daytona for Mike Harmon. In last year’s summer race, Viens finished 18th. A similar finish would be fantastic, but anything that nets 10 place differential will be a net gain for cash games.
