After a one-day break, we’re back with another huge NBA slate with 13 games. With this big of a slate, staying up on news will be critical. Make sure to monitor Stokastic’s starting lineups page to see who is in and out of the lineup. This article features two boom candidates and one bust/fade option. These plays below are driven by Stokastic’s NBA DFS Boom/Bust Tool. Let’s take a look at some of the best NBA DFS picks for the big slate, prioritizing Bucks big man Bobby Portis.
Boom/Bust NBA DFS Picks & Projections Today
NBA DFS Boom: Bobby Portis: $6,800 DraftKings/$5,900 FanDuel
47.2% DraftKings Boom/59.0% FanDuel Boom
Bucks forward Portis has the highest boom percentage on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. Having dual eligibility on both sites makes Portis one of the better value plays on the slate. Despite still coming off the bench, Portis has averaged a double-double for the first time in his nine-year career. He will also benefit if Holiday is unable to play and may even find his way into the Bucks’ starting lineup. Even though his salary has climbed to $6,800 on DraftKings, Portis has the highest leverage score on the slate with a 23.9% optimal percentage.
The Bucks played the Thunder two games ago and in 29 minutes, Portis had a massive double-double with 12 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. He only shot 5-for-15 from the field, so there is more potential production in this matchup once again. The Thunder rank 29th in rebounding percentage this season, so Portis will have a great chance to record his seventh double-double of the year. He has the second-highest projected ownership on FanDuel at nearly 40%. If Holiday is indeed out, it is going to be very tough to get away from the Bucks’ big men.

NBA DFS Boom: Myles Turner: $5,700 DraftKings/$6,600 FanDuel
35.9% DraftKings Boom/30.8% FanDuel Boom
A healthy Myles Turner at this salary on DraftKings feels like a steal. He has the third-highest value in our Stokastic projections on DraftKings as he is coming off of a season-high 37 minutes last game. Turner finished with 37 points and 12 rebounds while shooting 61.1% from the field, 57.1% from behind the arc and a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe. Being this cheap on DraftKings and having dual eligibility on FanDuel makes Turner a great value option. He has the sixth-highest boom percentage on DraftKings and the eighth-highest on FanDuel but is the cheapest player in both tiers.
Playing against Nikola Jokic may get Turner into foul trouble, but if he can stay on the floor, he is going to crush this price tag. Turner will likely lead the league in blocks again this season if he stays healthy. He is already averaging 3.4 per game, which only boosts his ceiling at these salaries on both sites. This game between the Pacers and Nuggets has the highest total on the slate at 235.5 points. There will be plenty of opportunities for Turner to get another double-double while adding a ton of blocks. It is tough to find a player with this much upside at such a low salary.
NBA DFS Bust: Kevin Durant: $11,000 DraftKings/$11,200 FanDuel
36.0% DraftKings Bust/44.4% FanDuel Bust
Kevin Durant may still be playing without Kyrie Irving and a limited Ben Simmons, but these salaries are getting a little out of control. Even with Simmons back last game playing limited minutes, Durant immediately saw a decrease in his peripherals as he only had four rebounds and four assists. Nic Claxton has also been a massive rebounder, leading the team with 9.3 per game. Durant is still averaging 31 points per game while shooting over 50% for the 10th straight season. He will need to do more than just score as his bust percentage on both sites is the highest among the elite options.
The Nets are three-point home favorites in the Battle of New York against the Knicks. This game has a relatively small 223 total as the Knicks continue to play at a relatively slow pace. Durant is a great player and without Irving on the floor, his upside does increase. However, this fade all comes down to his egregious salary. He shouldn’t be anywhere close to Jokic on this slate. We’ll take the fade approach with Durant tonight and play other options in the upper pricing tier.
