There is a large eight-game NBA fantasy slate tonight. With that, NBA DFS injury news will be a big part of tonight’s process. Be sure to check the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page to see who is in, who is out and who is starting as news breaks, and look at the NBA DFS rankings and projections for both DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.
NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | Dec. 17
*Grades are ordered DraftKings, FanDuel. Initial grade indicates a player’s strength of output, with the value grade indicating their strength as a play in relation to their salary.
PG Davion Mitchell — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A
Davion Mitchell has been steadily solid for the Kings over the past few weeks. On top of that, he entered the starting lineup last game, putting up 13 points and five assists in 29 minutes. His role could immediately grow even more tonight, with De’Aaron Fox listed as doubtful to play. Both his points and assists should increase as a result, which is why Awesemo’s projections label Mitchell as the best value play on DraftKings and the second-best value on FanDuel.
C DeMarcus Cousins — Grades: C, C | Values: A, A
The Bucks look to be short-handed in their frontcourt tonight, with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis all listed as out for this game, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo is considered doubtful to play. By default, this thrusts DeMarcus Cousins into a fairly large role. Priced near the minimum salary, there is a ton of upside with him tonight, and he is facing one of his former teams in the Pelicans. Awesemo’s projections label Cousins as the best value play on FanDuel and the second-best value on DraftKings.
PF Carmelo Anthony — Grades: C, C | Values: A, A
The Lakers are another team that looks to be short-handed tonight in their game against the Timberwolves. Talen Horton-Tucker, Russell Westbrook, Avery Bradley and Dwight Howard are all out, while LeBron James and Anthony Davis are also listed as questionable. Again, this means Carmelo Anthony will be thrust into a larger role by default. Awesemo projects him to play 28.4 minutes tonight, but it would not be surprising to see him play even more.

SF Harrison Barnes — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A
Along with the Kings above listed out and doubtful, Richaun Holmes and Alex Len are doubtful, Marvin Bagley III and Terence Davis are out, and Tyrese Haliburton is questionable. Needless to say, the Kings are a chaotic whirlwind, which means they need a steady veteran like Harrison Barnes to step up and steady the ship. He had a solid game in 32 minutes last time out, and he will likely need to play even more tonight.
