NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Optimizer & Ownership Projections

There is a large eight-game NBA fantasy slate tonight. With that, NBA DFS injury news will be a big part of tonight’s process. Be sure to check the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page to see who is in, who is out and who is starting as news breaks, and look at the NBA DFS rankings and projections for both DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.

NBA Daily Fantasy Picks: Awesemo Grades | Dec. 28

*Grades are ordered DraftKings, FanDuel. Initial grade indicates a player’s strength of output, with the value grade indicating their strength as a play in relation to their salary.

C Omer Yurtseven — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A

Both Bam Adebayo and Dewayne Dedmon continue to be out for the Heat, meaning Omer Yurtseven will have a large role once again tonight facing the Wizards. Over his past five games, Yurtseven has averaged 23.9 minutes per game for the Heat. He has put up 8.6 points and 12.8 rebounds per game over this stretch. Yurtseven made his very first start last game, finishing with 16 points and 15 rebounds in 33 minutes. Awesemo projects Yurtseven for 27.3 minutes tonight. Awesemo also lists him as the second-best overall value play on DraftKings and the third best on FanDuel.

C Derrick Favors — Grades: D, D | Values: A, A

Veteran big man Derrick Favors is in line for a larger role tonight, with Darius Bazley, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl and Aleksej Pokusevski all entering the league’s health and safety protocols. Awesemo projects Favors to play 20.5 minutes tonight. This season Favors has averaged 9.6 points and 7.8 rebounds in the five games he has played at least 20 minutes. Given the matchup against Cleveland, it would not be surprising to see him out-perform both these averages and Awesemo’s minutes projection for him.

SG R.J. Hampton — Grades: C, C | Values: A, B

The Magic are piling up bodies right now, with a long list of injuries and players in health and safety protocols. As a result, R.J. Hampton is coming off a game in which he played 32 minutes. He put up 14 points, five assists and three defensive stats in the game. Facing Milwaukee tonight, he will be asked to fill a similar role to the last game. Awesemo projects Hampton for 28.3 minutes tonight. The projections also list him as the top overall value play on DraftKings tonight.

PG Devonte’ Graham — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A

Brandon Ingram is doubtful to be in the lineup for the Pelicans. On top of that, Josh Hart is questionable. This points to Devonte’ Graham shouldering more of the offensive load, and he has been solid lately regardless. He has averaged 17.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.2 steals over the past five games. His scoring especially should go up tonight with Ingram out of the lineup. His assists could also rise if Jonas Valanciunas returns to the court for New Orleans.
