NBA DFS Building Blocks Today: Sunday, January 22
Core Play of the Day — Aaron Gordon: Oklahoma City Thunder-Denver Nuggets
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 36.41 | FanDuel: 35.98
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 45.40% | FanDuel: 48.70%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $6,400 | FanDuel: $6,800
With back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic questionable to miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury, it should come as no surprise that Aaron Gordon is a core building block for tonight’s slate. Averaging a respectable 32.1 DraftKings points per game, Gordon sees a huge bump in his rates with Jokic off the floor, and he couldn’t ask to be in a better spot matched up with the Thunder. Gordon is making a hard push to be a Western Conference All-Star, and he has had his way against Oklahoma City this year, averaging 46.35 DraftKings points in two meetings with the Thunder. He would be a strong play in this spot even if Jokic were to play, so with Jokic likely to miss a second consecutive game, he’s arguably the top overall play on the slate.

Tonight Jusuf Nurkic has a 3.5 over/under line on his assists prop for his matchup against the Lakers. Stokastic’s NBA DFS projections have Nurkic for 3.05 assists and a 60% likelihood that he falls below this threshold. For some added value, use this bet’s high likelihood of success as a way to begin an NBA player prop parlay tonight.

Brooklyn Nets-Golden State Warriors
There is a lot to like on both Brooklyn and Golden State this evening. On the Brooklyn side, Kyrie Irving is on fire right now, and he remains one of the top plays on the slate even as his price tag continues to rise on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Coming off his best game of the season, Irving should be feeling good about himself after dropping 48 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals as he single-handedly halted the Nets’ three-game losing streak. Nicolas Claxton also looks good in this spot, but even with Kevin Durant out, Brooklyn starts and ends with Irving.
For the Warriors, Anthony Lamb is questionable, but other than that, Golden State enters this game relatively healthy as they return home from a five-game road trip. After sitting Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins last time out against the Cavaliers, the Warriors definitely have the rest advantage in this spot, and they come home to a really good matchup against the Nets.
