NBA DFS Building Blocks Today: Friday, November 25

Core Play of the Day — Giannis Antetokounmpo Milwaukee Bucks-Cleveland Cavaliers

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 57.54 | FanDuel: 56.75
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 7.5% | FanDuel: 18.9%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $12,400 | FanDuel: $12,000

Khris Middleton remains out and there will be plenty of discount dandies available with 26 teams comprising the main slate player pool. FanDuel has Giannis Antetokounmpo with power forward and small forward eligibility and DraftKings has power forward and center eligibility. This gives ample flexibility when constructing rosters, so why not roll with the highest projected player on the slate as the core building block.

After starting out the season on a 9-0 tear, Milwaukee has dropped four of the last six games. Each of their next three games is spread out between tonight, Sunday against Dallas, and then next Wednesday in New York against the Knicks. We should continue to see 32-to-34 minutes as a reasonable baseline expectation for the two-time NBA MVP, with upside for more in closer games.

Antetokounmpo continues to churn out 50 fantasy point performances and his statistical categories are eerily like those of the two previous campaigns. The Cavaliers play at a below average pace, and they are one of the better teams in the league, but Antetokounmpo is basically matchup proof and this game is in Milwaukee.

Cleveland will be without Kevin Love (thumb) and Caris LeVert (ankle), which in turn will foist more offensive responsibility on Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland. That keeps the Cavs dynamic backcourt in play and also gives a boost to the baseline production for Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley.

Philadelphia 76ers-Orlando Magic

Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey all remain out with their respective foot injuries. While the salaries for De’Anthony Melton and Shake Milton have increased appropriately given their new responsibilities and recent production, they are still fair. The average gamer is going to feel sticker shock, which should keep their popularity in check for tournaments, despite the enticing matchup against Orlando.

Tobias Harris is also an option as he should be heavily involved on offense and he can contribute across the various statistical categories. There is no need to chase anyone outside of the aforementioned trio with coach Glenn Rivers always tinkering with his rotations when key players are out.

Rookie Paolo Banchero is expected to return after missing two weeks with an ankle injury. Wendell Carter Jr. (foot) is questionable after missing three of the last four games and guard Cole Anthony has been ruled out through the weekend. Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs move from neutral options to appealing ones if Carter remains out as there will be a trickledown effect of production that will not all be absorbed by Banchero.

Additional NBA DFS Building Blocks Picks Today – Sports Wagering Opportunities

Tonight, Ben Simmons an intriguing option with a 7.5 over/under line on his rebound prop for his road matchup against the Pacers. The Stokastic NBA player projections have him for 8.3 rebounds and a 59% likelihood that he exceeds this threshold. Though this is not a gaudy success rate, the +118 line provides a stellar 28% expected return on investment (xROI) per OddsShopper.

Simmons has been brought along slowly this season and he is averaging a career low 28.4 minutes, which makes sense considering he did not play last year and is also recovering from offseason surgery. In his last three games, he has been in the starting lineup while averaging 33.2 minutes. These added minutes are alongside Nicolas Claxton, however, Simmons is averaging 8.6 rebounds per 36 minutes and that his him right around this milestone with a good chance at surpassing it with the up tempo Pacers.

New Orleans Pelicans-Memphis Grizzlies

CJ McCollum is in the health and safety protocol and Trey Murphy III is a game time decision having missed the last two games with a foot issue. The absence of McCollum is important as it will redistribute 18 field goal attempts and points along with half a dozen assists.

Jose Alvarado is the punt du jour as he and Herbert Jones will be the direct beneficiaries for the minutes vacated by McCollum and potentially Murphy. Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram will likely each see a couple extra field goal attempts and Ingram has upside as a secondary facilitator.

Memphis will be without Desmond Bane (toe), while Santi Aldama (non-COVID related illness) is doubtful, and John Konchar (calf) is questionable. Ja Morant looks like a premium option on his home court tonight and if Aldama remains out, Brandon Clark and especially Jaren Jackson Jr. become tournament options. Dillon Brooks is a wild card and a lot of headache to take on for such a large slate.

Utah Jazz-Golden State Warriors

Mike Conley is out with a foot injury and Rudy Gay is going to miss at least another week with a finger issue. Collin Sexton is the biggest beneficiary of Conley’s absence, and the former Cavalier has no minutes restrictions having played a season high 35 in his last start. Jordan Clarkson is in play on the main slate and Talen Horton-Tucker and Malik Beasley enter the picture on for the later sub-slates. Kelly Olynyk has a favorable salary on both DraftKings ($5,000) and FanDuel ($5,300), though he is more appealing on the latter site with his power forward eligibility.

Stephen Curry is always a tournament option and so far, he has authored the best fantasy season of his career. Andrew Wiggins and Klay Thompson are best utilized on the late-slate, though they can be employed as part of a mini-game stack for added synergy on the main slate.
