NBA DFS Picks: Friday, Jan. 27
Core Play of the Day — Brandon Clarke: Memphis Grizzlies-Minnesota Timberwolves
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 28.39 | FanDuel: 28.78
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 27.30% | FanDuel: 47.80%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $4,900 | FanDuel: $5,600
Despite tonight’s slate consisting of just five games, there are still a bunch of solid plays across the board. That said, Brandon Clarke stands out as a clear core building block across all lineups on both DraftKings and FanDuel.
With starting center Steven Adams out for the next 3 to 5 weeks with a PCL sprain in his right knee, Clarke is the biggest beneficiary on Memphis, and at $4,900 on DraftKings, he’s a slam dunk play with both power forward and center eligibility. He is more expensive on FanDuel, but he is also pulling even more ownership there than he is on DraftKings, and it makes sense given how other players are priced comparably between the two sites. While Xavier Tillman started the first game after Adams’ injury, Clarke started and played 32 minutes in Memphis’ last game. The Grizzlies should go right back to him in a matchup with the Timberwolves. If Tillman does start, Clarke is still in play but not nearly the lock he would be if he were to start.

Memphis Grizzlies-Minnesota Timberwolves
Sticking with this game, there is a lot to like about both Memphis and Minnesota tonight. Ja Morant is always in play for Memphis, and tonight is no exception. Morant will certainly look better if Desmond Bane sits, as would Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr. and potentially Zaire Williams off the bench.
On the Minnesota side, Rudy Gobert is questionable, but if he plays, he projects as one of the highest-owned players on DraftKings at a cheap $6,400 price tag. If Gobert sits, however, Naz Reid will emerge as one of the top plays on the slate, and Nathan Knight and Luka Garza will become appealing punt options. With Karl-Anthony Towns still out, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards will remain strong plays, with Russell standing out at only $6,700 on DraftKings.
