Before you lock in your NBA DFS lineups and NBA DFS picks on DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo and FantasyDraft, make sure to check out check out Awesemo’s DFS basketball NBA rankings and projections. Let’s dig into some NBA DFS Picks, including Andre Drummond, Joel Embiid, Karl Anthony Towns and Raul Neto.

Don’t forget to check out the NBA Strategy Show with Josh Engelman and Loughy as they break down the NBA DFS slate and give out their thoughts on Anthony Davis, Joel Embiid and more.

NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players

Karl Anthony Towns : Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors

DraftKings $10,300, FanDuel $11,500, Yahoo $53 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 31.0%, FanDuel 21.0%

Yes, I have written up Karl Anthony Towns nearly every time he has been on the docket. It makes sense as he has been amazing from a fantasy perspective. Things are trickier tonight with Andre Drummond and Joel Embiid in tasty situations.

This is going to keep some of the popularity dispersed which is key. Towns will likely be playing without Jeff Teague (illness) and Shabazz Napier (hamstring). He will be the focal point of the offense and likely the top distributor if both of his teammates are on the shelf. Golden State is allowing 115.5 points per 100.0 possessions which is WORST in the league by nearly four points.

Drummond will be facing the Pacers for the third time this season. He is averaging 25.0 points and 20.5 rebounds against them this season. It doesn’t matter who is in or out between Myles Turner and Domatas Sabonis. Our other pivot at the pivot Joel Embiid will be playing without Ben Simmons and in a nice matchup against the soft Denver front court.

NBA DFS Picks: Good Value

Troy Brown Jr: Washington Wizards vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

DraftKings $4,400, FanDuel $4,000, Yahoo $12 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 7.0%, FanDuel 30.0%

While it is tough to trust a second year player who only had one so-so season in college. However, Troy Brown Jr. was a sought after recruit and the 15th overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Wizards have a lot of available minutes as they try and figure out what sort of a hand they have been dealt. We should see Isaiah Thomas in the starting lineup going forward along with Brown. Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre, Bobby Portis, Jabari Parker and Thomas Satoransky were getting heavy minutes last year while with the team, now all are elsewhere.

We should see Brown in the 28-30 minute range as long as he can stay out of foul trouble. The matchup with Cleveland is outstanding as they are allowing 109.1 points per 100 possessions and this game has the second highest implied point total at 232.0 tonight. Being eligible for five of the eight roster positions on DraftKings, I would suspect to see Brown’s popularity double or triple to around 20% even on this 11 game slate.

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value

Raulzinho Neto: Philadelphia 76ers at Denver Nuggets

DraftKings $3,400, FanDuel $3,700, Yahoo $10 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 41.0%, FanDuel 36.0%

This categorization is likely to be a polarizing one today. Raulzinho Neto is now with the ‘Sixers after spending his first four seasons with Utah. Yes, Ben Simmons is out, Neto is barely price and he could see upwards of 30 minutes. So why is he in this bucket?

We want to keep in mind that Neto is CONSTANTLY dealing with injuries and he has played in an average of just 39.3 games each of the last three years with one start. Last year he topped 20 fantasy points twice in 37 games and never topped 25 fantasy points. In 2017 he had three games over 20 fantasy points in 41 chances and in 2016 he never topped 20 fantasy points in 40 games.

Yes, you can play him in your “cash” games. However, I just do not see the upside in tournaments even with the salary relief unlocking other top-shelf plays.

FantasyCruncher NBA DFS Tip of the Day

With the incredibly user-friendly FantasyCruncher, we can take our lineup construction to the next level.

Today we will look at how to use the “group” feature within FantasyCruncher to facilitate a game stack.

For this example we will be focusing on the 232.0 total of the Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards game.

Going to the Advanced Options >>> Groups will allow us to set up the players we want to include. For this example I have named my group WAS vs. CLE Game Stack and requested that at least five players from this group are used in every lineup. The reason I named this group is to easily find it because I do not want to make all of my lineups focused on this game, we can use the “enable/disable” function to turn this rule on and off.

When creating a group in this manner, we will want to do a few runs to see what type of lineups are created. Our individual player exposure %s will be applied and then FantasyCruncher will choose the best five on a point per dollar basis. In this case, that is bringing in more of the Washington players than I would like to see. So I am using the General setting tab to set a minimum number of players from each team. In this instance I am using a minimum of two from each team for some balance.

Final Thoughts

Keep in mind this these rules will be applied to all lineups. Generally if I am running 100 lineups and would like to use this game stack on 20 of them, I will work on those 20 lineups first. Then once I am happy with them, I will turn off these rules and create my other 80 lineups. Do not delete the group, just disable it. That way if news breaks, you do not have to go back in and rebuild it while under pressure of lock time approaching.
