In case you’ve had enough of Saturday afternoon football, the basketball gods have blessed us with a three-game Saturday night NBA slate. This article will analyze Stokastic’s ownership projections for the slate to see how to best handle high and low-owned players in order to gain leverage in DFS tournaments. Let’s get into the top NBA DFS leverage picks for Saturday, including LeBron James and Tre Jones.
NBA DFS Leverage Picks & Optimizer Plays
Ownership is expected to be pretty concentrated with just three games on tap for the slate. That will mostly leaving it up to the DFS player on who they want to use to differentiate themselves. LeBron James is in a great spot against the Spurs and looks to be under owned, with only 22.60% of rosters expected to have him on DraftKings. He is one high-end options that DFS players can look to for leverage.
Averaging a LeBron-like 49.0 DraftKings points per game, James returned to the court last night after missing the previous five games with an adductor injury. Projected to be optimal 24.80% of the time on DraftKings and 32.80% of the time on FanDuel, LBJ looks like an elite play in all formats, and he offers really nice leverage across both sites.
Going right to the Spurs side of that game, Tre Jones also finds himself in a great spot tonight, and priced at $6,000 on DraftKings and $6,400 on FanDuel, he’s another strong leverage play across both sites. So far this season, Jones is averaging 28.4 DraftKings points per game, and he finds himself in a good spot against a Lakers team he just had success against last night.
Projected for 36.70% ownership on DraftKings and 35.0% on FanDuel, Jones is projected to be severely under owned across both sites as he’s projected to be optimal 46.10% of the time on DraftKings and 43.20% of the time on FanDuel. In a good spot at home against the Lakers, Jones isn’t getting enough love on either site.
One player that is rating poorly from a leverage perspective on DraftKings in Stokastic’s Boom Bust Tool and might be worth fading tonight is DeAndre Ayton. Priced at $7,500, Ayton is projected to be 25.30% owned on DraftKings with an optimal percentage of only 15.20%. At this affordable price point, it makes sense why Ayton is getting love, but with other value plays like Tre Jones and Jeremy Sochan in better spots, it might be wise to stay away from Ayton in tournaments.
Last but not least, with only three games on the slate there are surprisingly no injury situations to monitor at the moment. This is the NBA though, so always be on your toes for last minute injury news.
