NBA DFS Leverage Picks & Optimizer Plays
With just four games, ownership is expected to be concentrated, leaving it mostly up to DFS players to determine how they want to differentiate themselves. Luguentz Dort stands out as one of the top contrarian plays on the slate, with only 15.40% of lineups on DraftKings expected to roster the Oklahoma City Thunder guard. Priced at only $5,300 on DraftKings and $5,900 on FanDuel, Dort looks like one of the top options DFS players can look to for leverage, and he’s in a good spot matched up with a Denver Nuggets team he’s had plenty of success against this season.
As of this writing, Dort is projected to be in 13.40% of lineups on FanDuel, with an optimal percentage of 14.20%. The story is similar on DraftKings, where Dort is projected to be optimal 18.20% of the time. Though Dort is much more solid than spectacular, he is undoubtedly one of the top tournament plays on the slate.

Another Thunder who also isn’t getting enough love is forward Darius Bazley. Averaging a paltry 14.5 DraftKings points per game, Bazley is never fun to roster, but he’s right there with Dort as the top leverage play on the slate. Priced at only $3,000 on DraftKings and $4,000 on FanDuel, Bazley is at only 9.60% of lineups expected to roster him on DraftKings. While rostering Bazley is usually a boom or bust proposition, he’s projected to be in the optimal lineup 5.70% of the time on DraftKings and 1.70% of the time on FanDuel, making him one of the top contrarian plays on the entire slate.
On the flip side, Brooklyn Nets guard/forward Joe Harris is rating poorly from a leverage perspective on DraftKings in Stokastic’s Boom Bust Tool and might be worth fading in GPPs. At $3,900, Harris is projected to be 14.70% owned on DraftKings despite an optimal percentage of 10.40%. On FanDuel, the discrepancy is even greater, with Harris projected to be 19.00% owned with an optimal percentage of 14.50%. While Harris is surely in play in all formats, he’s getting too much love while other value plays like Bazley and Drew Eubanks are under-owned.
