NBA DFS Leverage Picks & Optimizer Plays
High-End Tier
With six games on tap, ownership is expected to be concentrated, mostly leaving it up to the DFS player on who they want to use to differentiate themselves. First and foremost, Scottie Barnes is in a great spot against Indiana and looks to be severely under owned with only 10.30% of rosters expected to have him on DraftKings.
Averaging a respectable 33.0 DraftKings points per game to start the season, Barnes has seen that number come up a bit since Pascal Siakam got hurt on November 4th. Projected to be optimal 16.00% of the time on DraftKings and 23.00% of the time on FanDuel, Barnes looks like an elite play in all formats, and he offers really nice leverage across both sites.
With both Malcolm Brogdon and Al Horford out and Jaylen Brown questionable, Derrick White also finds himself in a great spot tonight, and priced at $4,300 on DraftKings and $4,500 on FanDuel, he’s another strong leverage play across both sites. Averaging 19.7 DraftKings points through Boston’s first twelve games, White has been solid so far this season, and he should see a massive boost with Boston shorthanded tonight.
Projected for only 5.70% ownership on DraftKings and 7.10% on FanDuel, White is projected to be severely under owned across both sites as he’s projected to be optimal 14.50% of the time on DraftKings and 14.90% of the time on FanDuel. In a good spot in Detroit against the Pistons, White isn’t getting enough love on either site.
One player that is rating poorly from a leverage perspective on DraftKings in Stokastic’s Boom Bust Tool and might be worth fading tonight is Andrew Nembhard. Priced at only $3,500, Nembhard is projected to be 32.50% owned on DraftKings with an optimal percentage of only 13.40%. At this cheap price point, it makes sense why Barton is getting love, but with other value plays like Derrick White and De’Anthony Melton in better spots, it might be wise to stay away from Nembhard in tournaments.
Situations to Monitor
Aside from Jaylen Brown being questionable, there are few other injury situations to monitor tonight. LaMelo Ball, who has missed all season with an ankle injury, looks to be a game-time call tonight against the Heat. Dennis Smith Jr. is also questionable for the Hornets while Fred VanVleet and Tyler Herro hold that same designation for the Raptors and Heat. If VanVleet is out, Scottie Barnes would look that much better. Jusuf Nurkic and Jerami Grant remain questionable for the Blazers while Christian Wood is probable tonight for the Mavericks. Cade Cunningham has been ruled out for the Pistons, giving a bump up to basically everyone else on Detroit’s roster.
