NBA DFS Leverage Picks and Optimizer Plays: Karl-Anthony Towns Has Bizarre Ownership Levels

Sunday features a six-game NBA night slate, and this article will analyze Stokastic’s ownership projections for the slate to see how to handle the high- and low-owned players in order to gain leverage in tournaments. Let’s get into the top NBA DFS leverage picks for Sunday, Nov. 13, including Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns.

NBA DFS Leverage Picks & Optimizer Plays

High-End Tier

With six games on tap, ownership is expected to be concentrated, mostly leaving it up to the DFS player to determine who to use to differentiate. First and foremost, Joel Embiid is in a great spot against Utah and looks to be severely under owned, with only 15.70% of rosters expected to have him on DraftKings.

Averaging a respectable 50.3 DraftKings points per game, Embiid is coming off his best game of the season last night, putting up 71.5 DraftKings points against the Hawks. Although he’s questionable tonight, Embiid said he expects to play, and he remains a really strong option on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He is projected to be optimal 22.90% of the time on DraftKings and 31.90% of the time on FanDuel. That makes Embiid an elite play in all formats, and he offers really nice leverage across both sites.

Karl-Anthony Towns also finds himself in a great spot tonight, priced at $8,800 on both DraftKings and FanDuel. He is averaging 42.7 DraftKings points through Minnesota’s first 13 games, and despite being very affordable, he’s not getting nearly enough love tonight. Towns is projected for only 8.50% ownership on DraftKings and 11.50% on FanDuel, making him severely under owned across both sites since he’s projected to be optimal 13.90% of the time on DraftKings and 14.60% of the time on FanDuel. Plus, Cleveland may be shorthanded tonight.

On the other hand, Deni Avdija is rating poorly from a leverage perspective on DraftKings in Stokastic’s Boom/Bust Tool. He is only $4,000, and Avdija is projected to be 16.70% owned on DraftKings, but he only has an optimal percentage of only 6.30%. At this cheap price point, it makes sense why Avdija is getting love. However, there are other value plays like Bruce Brown and Malik Monk who are also in better spots, so it might be wise to stay away from Avdija in tournaments.

Situations to Monitor

Aside from Embiid being questionable, there are a bunch of other injury situations to monitor tonight. LeBron James is doubtful, while Anthony Davis is probable. Ja Morant and Desmond Bane are both doubtful for Memphis, giving a boost to basically everyone else on the Grizzlies, not the least of which is Tyus Jones. Bradley Beal is doubtful again for Washington, while both Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen are questionable for the Cavaliers.
