NBA DFS Building Blocks Today: Sunday, November 27

Core Play of the Day — Jaylen Brown: Boston Celtics-Washington Wizards

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 48.95 | FanDuel: 46.61
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 46.6% | FanDuel: 46.3%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $8,500 | FanDuel: $8,500

Jayson Tatum is out with an ankle injury, though he is not expected to miss much time. That means Jaylen Brown leaps to the forefront of DFS options tonight in an above average matchup against Washington. The Wizards are a middling team from both a pace and defensive efficiency perspective and while that should not dissuade us from targeting them, they are far from the non-existent defense prior to coach Wes Unseld Jr. taking the reins last year.

Since the start of last year, Brown averages 1.25 fantasy points per minute when Tatum is off the court, which is a 17% increase compared to when they play alongside each other. Though he has been in the league for seven seasons, Brown is still only 26-years-old and continuing to improve. This year he is averaging a career best 25.6 points and 6.6 rebounds. Some of this boost of course is due to Robert Williams out with an injury, but it also can be attributed to improved field goal success with a 50.3% conversion rate. Join the masses on this chalky core building block option.

Luka Doncic: Dallas Mavericks-Milwaukee Bucks

  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 58.3 | FanDuel: 56.63
  • Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 8.2% | FanDuel: 13.7%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $12,700 | FanDuel: $12,200

The lone late game is a marquee matchup pitting the Mavericks against the Bucks in Milwaukee. Arguments can be made rostering both Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo, though Doncic gets the slight edge. The fifth-year superstar leads the league with 33.4 points per game while also leading his team with 8.9 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.8 steals. Only Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid have a higher usage rate than Doncic who has turned his opportunities into a career best 60 fantasy points per game. There are plenty of pending injury situations and it could be possible to roster both Doncic and Antetokounmpo depending on how the news breaks.

Additional NBA DFS Building Blocks Picks Today – Sports Wagering Opportunities

Tonight, Kyle Kuzma an intriguing option with a 7.5 over/under line on his rebound prop for his road matchup against the Celtics. The Stokastic NBA player projections have him for 8.7 rebounds and a 69% likelihood that he exceeds this threshold. There is a heavy -142 “juice” on this wager so the 17% expected return on investment (xROI) per OddsShopper, is somewhat tempered – however, using this as a leg in a straight or same-game parlay can help increase the payout.

Kuzma has at least seven rebounds in eight consecutive games and he continues to log heavy minutes. Tatum is out tonight and the absence of Williams has been looming large with Boston in the bottom-third of the league in rebounds this season.

Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons

The Cavaliers are on the road and they will be without Kevin Love (thumb) and Lamar Stevens (non-COVID related illness). Caris LeVert (ankle) has missed the last three games and he is listed as a game time decision. Jarrett Allen (back) is also questionable, so this is a situation to monitor for sure.

Starting with the obvious, Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell are both strong plays who only get better if more of their teammates are ruled out. If Allen is out, Evan Mobley will see an uptick in minutes as well as scoring opportunities and veteran Robin Lopez may be dusted off as well.

If LeVert is out, he and the absence of Stevens should create a trickledown effect for Dean Wade, Cedi Osman and Isaac Okoro, though there are likely to be better discount dandies available.

Detroit is likely to disappoint their hometown fans as they are currently 7.5 point underdogs. Isaiah Stewart (toe) has missed the last six games, but he is getting close to a return. Cade Cunningham (shin) remains out and now it sounds like surgery is a possibility. Jaden Ivey (knee) sat out the last game, but is trending towards a possible return tonight. If he is back, he is a primary target as the best guard on the team. Even if the entire backcourt is out, it is still not worth rolling the dice with Cory Joseph who continually disappoints from a fantasy perspective and he too is not 100% while dealing with an illness.

The hits keep on coming with Bojan Bogdanovic (knee/ankle) and Saddiq Bey (ankle) both questionable. If Bogdanovic is starting, he should be considered a full go. Thing are a little trickier with Bey as he has missed the last 10 days. Killian Hayes is in play if Ivey remains out and he is a secondary option if Ivey plays. Marvin Bagley III has been decent, but it is hard to give up a center slot on DraftKings, he does have power forward eligibility on FanDuel, so if Stewart is out again, we can look to Bagley on the blue site.
