NBA DFS Building Blocks Today: Wednesday, November 23
Core Play of the Day — Karl-Anthony Towns: Minnesota Timberwolves-Indiana Pacers
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 45.69 | FanDuel: 43.82
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 10.0% | FanDuel: 9.0%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $9,000 | FanDuel: $9,000
Tonight, we can consider Karl-Anthony Towns in a great matchup on the road against the Pacers. Indiana plays at an up-tempo pace with lackadaisical defense. The nice thing about having Rudy Gobert on the Timberwolves is that it allows us to utilize Towns as a power forward and then work in some of the better point per dollar options in the center slot. Though Towns is averaging a career low of 8.9 rebounds per game, that is offset with a personal best 5.6 assists. Along with Gobert, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards, we do not see Towns playing hero ball as much in the past. This does somewhat limit the frequency with which he attains his upside, but it also has helped his efficiency and kept his fantasy floor intact along with a favorable salary most nights.
Stephen Curry: Golden State Warriors-Los Angeles Clippers
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 53.14 | FanDuel: 50.62
- Stokastic’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 4.6% | FanDuel: 11.3%
- DFS Salary: DraftKings: $10,800 | FanDuel: $10,400
For the second time on a back-to-back game set this season, coach Steve Kerr held out all of his key veterans. This is a good thing for us to file for next Friday and Saturday when the Warrior host Chicago and Houston on consecutive nights.
Stephen Curry has been stellar this season with a career high of 55 fantasy points per game. This is accompanied by personal bests of 32.3 points and 6.7 rebounds while his 7.1 assists per game are the most since the 2014-2015 season. Only once this season has Curry failed to reach the 40-fantasy point plateau.
For those of you worried about “blowout” risk with the Warriors nearly double-digit favorites, keep in mind that they are 5-7 in their last dozen games and two games below .500 and currently 1.5 points out of the Play-In Tournament. If this back-to-back rest continues, the ‘Dubs are going to need to take care of business when they are at full strength like tonight.
Additional NBA DFS Building Blocks Picks Today – Sports Wagering Opportunities
Tonight, Darius Garland is an intriguing option with a 9.5 over/under line on his assist prop for his matchup at home against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Stokastic NBA player projections have him for 7.9 assists and a 73% likelihood that he falls under this threshold threshold. This wager also has a reasonable -105 cost for a 43% expected return on investment (xROI) per OddsShopper.
While it can be terrifying rooting for unders, we need to keep in mind that Garland has double-digit assists in only one of 11 games this season. Even his per-36 minutes rate is under this mark at 7.9 assists and Garland is averaging 35.5 minutes per appearance, so he would need efficiency to be on his side to surpass this over. Caris LeVert is out, and Kevin Love is questionable and while they are secondary facilitators, Garland’s biggest competition for assist is Donovan Mitchell who is healthy and averaging 6.0 assists with his new squad, which is a career high.

Philadelphia 76ers-Charlotte Hornets
Last night the shorthanded 76ers knocked off the Nets who had Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons all in the starting lineup. Tobias Harris left the game with an ankle injury, but he did return to action. There is a chance he is out on this back-to-back depending on how he responds to treatment. Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tyrese Maxey are all out as well, which means that Philadelphia will be an excellent source of value, even with two dozen teams in the player pool.
Shake Milton and De’Anthony Melton are the primary options tonight as they should see mid-30s minutes as the starting backcourt. Paul Reed should see close to 30 minutes off the bench as the main frontcourt player off the bench but do know that he has been getting his production via unsustainable efficiency when he has had his big games. This includes a six steal/two block performance at the beginning of the month in 18 minutes along with last night’s 7-for-9 from the field as well as 5-of-6 from the free throw line. For perspective, these are his first attempts from the charity stripe on the season.
Georges Niang and Danuel House Jr. are slightly safer than Reed, but they are by no means in the same category as Milton and Melton. If Harris is out, either Niang or House would likely join the starting rotation, giving them a clearer path to minutes in the upper-20s. Leave Furkan Korkmaz, Montrezl Harrell and Matisse Thybulle to other gamers as they could easily end their night with single-digit fantasy points which would be catastrophic on such a large slate.
Terry Rozier looks like the best option on Charlotte with LaMelo Ball out and he has shooting guard eligibility on both FanDuel and DraftKings, with the latter also designated him as a small forward. PJ Washington, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Gordon Hayward are neutral options that will likely fall out of contention as other injuries and rest candidates are confirmed throughout today.
Final Thoughts on NBA DFS Picks Today
This slate can best be described as controlled chaos. There are 10 games getting underway within the first hour of lock, followed by one game at 9:00 p.m. ET and then the West Coast nightcap at 10:00 p.m. ET with the Warriors hosting the Clippers. We are unlikely to have the starting lineup for Los Angeles, but they will be a good source of value options and leaving two spots open whenever using players from that matchup will allow for maximum flexibility when it comes to late swaps.
