DraftKings & FanDuel NBA DFS Picks Today (6/2)

Tonight should be a great game to watch, regardless of which team you are backing in the series, or even if your favorite squad is also watching from home. Golden State wrapped up their series against Dallas with a 4-1 gentleman’s sweep, locking up the Western Conference in five games. Boston had a longer road and Miami took them to Game 7, but the Celtics ultimately prevailed on Sunday. Both teams have had a chance to rest, and we get a new matchup to analyze.

Stephen Curry | Golden State Warriors

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 44.79 | FanDuel: 42.38
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 62.0% | FanDuel: 50.1%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $10,200 | FanDuel: $15,500

Stephen Curry once again has been amazing so far in the postseason, and it seems like a lifetime ago that he was coming off the bench for the first portion of Round 1. Yes, just in case you forgot, Curry did not make a start in the playoffs until Game 5, as he was working his way back into condition after missing the last few weeks of the regular season with a foot issue.

Since then, Curry has been outstanding in the 12 games he started, averaging 35.5 minutes with 19.4 field goal attempts, including 10.2 from behind the arc. This has culminated in 25.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.3 combined blocks and steals. Depending on game flow, it would not be a surprise to see both teams work with an eight-man rotation as they test out different approaches. These are two of the best defenses in the league, but Curry is a special player who is also content to get assists or defer as long as his team gets points on the board.

Jayson Tatum | Boston Celtics

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 51.13 | FanDuel: 48.9
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 67.1% | FanDuel: 55.9%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $10,600 | FanDuel: $16,000

This postseason, Jayson Tatum once again has been the driving force behind the Celtics on both ends of the floor. Fortunately, he and Jaylen Brown have figured out how to coexist within the offense, and each has played a crucial role in getting Boston to the Finals. Tatum has the ability to score on all three levels, and it will be interesting to see what coach Steve Kerr has in store from a defensive standpoint. Tatum is also a solid passer, and it will be hard for the Warriors to take him out of the game and “let the rest of the team” beat them.

In addition to Brown stepping up, Al Horford has been outstanding, doing whatever the team needs based on matchups or covering for the injured Robert Williams. Marcus Smart has dramatically improved as the lead point guard and, of course, he still is amazing on defense. Tatum is a strong option in all formats, though there is a risk of overlap in lineups when trying to build with both Tatum and Curry, particularly when using one in the Captain slot with the 50% salary multiplier chewing up a chunk of the cap. On FanDuel, where there is only a multiplier for fantasy production, Tatum has the best point-per-dollar ratio of anyone in the player pool.

Draymond Green | Golden State Warriors

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: DraftKings: 31.3 | FanDuel: 31.35
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: DraftKings: 50.8% | FanDuel: 38.8%
  • DFS Salary: DraftKings: $6,800 | FanDuel: $11,000

This should be a fun matchup for Draymond Green, as he will not be battling any behemoths in the paint. If he is motivated and not being salty enough to pick up technicals, Green has the second-best point-per-dollar ratio among all starters. Foul trouble and blowouts have contributed to Green not playing as many minutes as would typically be expected in the postseason. This is a good thing, as it has kept his salary at a reasonable level and game log watchers will in turn be less than impressed with the results. Do not be afraid to use Green as a core option tonight in all formats. His ability to contribute across the box score in all categories give him a solid floor and slate-breaking upside if everything goes his way in the same game.

NBA DFS Discount Dandies

Boston Celtics

  1. Derrick White: May get a few more minutes if the rotation is not as tight as the end of the last round.
  2. Grant Williams: Always finds his way into a couple dozen minutes, with the potential of flirting with 30 depending on game flow.
  3. Robert Williams: The team may look to monitor his minutes, again depending on game flow, as it will be crucial for his knee to hold up for the entire series.

Jaylen Brown is an interesting option in the NBA player props market. Currently he has a 6.5 over/under on his rebound prop, and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 7.6 rebounds, which gives him a 64% probability of surpassing the over.

Golden State Warriors

  1. Gary Payton II: Rumored to be ready to go after his horrific elbow injury; hard to see him getting an abundance of minutes unless he starts, but his presence will impact Damion Lee and Moses Moody.
  2. Otto Porter Jr: If news is confident about his availability, he should see 15 to 24 minutes off the bench. DNP is in play, though.
  3. Nemanja Bjelica, Jonathan Kuminga and Juan Toscano-Anderson: Each is unlikely to see more than 8 to 10 minutes, and there are scenarios where none of them set foot on the court.
