NBA DFS Picks: DraftKings, FanDuel & Yahoo Fantasy Basketball Building Blocks Today | Sunday, Feb. 13

Yahoo Play of the Day — Karl-Anthony Towns: Minnesota Timberwolves at Indiana Pacers

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 45.18 | DraftKings: 46.81
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 55.5% | FanDuel 47.5% | DraftKings 52.0%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $40 | FanDuel $10,300 | DraftKings $9,700

Today we have some early NBA action as all eyes will be on Super Bowl 56 later tonight. Karl-Anthony Towns is projecting as one of the three top scorers on the slate and he has an enticing $40 salary on Yahoo. While he has scored at least 21 points in his last nine games, he has failed to corral double-digit rebounds in the last three. That is likely to change today against the Pacers as they are thin at the frontcourt having dealt Domantas Sabonis and with Myles Turner (foot) out through the All-Star Break. That leaves Goga Bitadze and a bunch of undersized forwards masquerading as centers.

Tyrese Haliburton: Indiana Pacers vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 38.51 | DraftKings: 39.51
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 63.6% | FanDuel 31.8% | DraftKings 37.7%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $33 | FanDuel $9,000 | DraftKings $8,200

In his Pacers debut, Tyrese Haliburton played 40 minutes with 23 points, three rebounds, six assists and a trio of steals. Until Malcolm Brogdon returns from his Achilles injury that has sidelined him for all but two games since Christmas, Haliburton will be the primary backcourt option for Indiana. Minnesota is playing at the fastest pace in the league over its last 10 games, while also playing atrocious defense allowing 115.8 points per 100 possessions. It is hard to get away from Haliburton at $33 on this two-game slate.

Trae Young: Atlanta Hawks at Boston Celtics

  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Point Projections: Yahoo and FanDuel: 42.16 | DraftKings: 45.29
  • Awesemo’s Preliminary Rostered Projections: Yahoo 40.4% | FanDuel 48.3% | DraftKings 45.5%
  • DFS Salary: Yahoo $40 | FanDuel $9,900 | DraftKings $9,800

Today it looks like Trae Young will be an interesting decision point on our brief two-game slate. John Collins will not be back until after the All-Star Break after suffering a foot injury against the Spurs on Friday. Young has posted a string of solid box scores with double-doubles in five of his last six appearances. However, he is facing a Boston team that has been sublime on defense allowing just 94.8 points per 100 possessions over its last 10 games, which is 10.7 points less than the next-closest team during this span. In the prior two tilts against the Celtics this season, Young has averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.5 steals for just shy of 36 fantasy points per game. Without Collins providing a secondary scorer, Boston can exclusively focus on shutting down Young.

This afternoon, the NBA player props market for Young against Boston is one to consider, as Awesemo has him projected for just over 8.1 assists. Currently his assists prop is over/under 8.5, and without Collins on the court, the Atlanta offense tends to stagnate, which could lead to more field goal attempts for Young rather than assists to his teammates.

Final Thoughts on NBA DFS picks for the Sunday, Feb. 13 Fantasy Basketball Slate

Today we have a quick two-game slate before four solid days of NBA action heading into the All-Star Break. Keep in mind that salaries and scoring formats differ across the various fantasy sites, and a slam-dunk play on Yahoo may be a below-average NBA DFS pick on DraftKings or FanDuel.
