Yahoo Play of the Day — Jordan Poole: Golden State Warriors at Washington Wizards

This should be a walk in the park for Golden State as Washington has finally decided to punt on the remainder of the season. The Warriors are waltzing into DC as half a dozen point favorites against a Wizards squad, which has lost 8 of 10 games while allowing 114 or more points in all but two tilts during this timeframe. Jordan Poole has been the main facilitator filling the role normally occupied by Stephen Curry which has provided a secure 36 to 38 minutes of run along with 13 or more attempts from beyond the arc in four of his last five appearances. Klay Thompson is also worth a look at just $29 on Yahoo as he is averaging just over 34 minutes per outing over his last nine games.
Look to Poole in this matchup against the Wizards in the NBA player prop market. Currently he has a 4.5 over/under on his assist prop, and the Awesemo NBA player projections have him for 5.9, which gives him a 70% probability of surpassing the over. Poole has at least six assists in three straight and five or more in seven of his last 11 games.

Tonight is an island game for the 76ers who play their next game at home on Tuesday when they host Milwaukee. Philadelphia can secure sole possession of the best record in the Eastern Conference if they record a victory in Phoenix. Miami is on a four-game losing streak, which has really tightened up the top of the standings in the East. Currently Philadelphia, Boston, Milwaukee and Miami are all within half a game of each other with Chicago and Toronto both within striking distance.
The Suns have clinched the best record in the league, so it would not be a shock for them to ease up on the minutes for Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton. Tonight JaVale McGee (non-COVID related illness) is out which means that when Ayton is off the court, Joel Embiid will be overpowering the likes of Bismack Biyombo and whatever nominal center draws the short straw for Phoenix. Tonight anything less than 50 fantasy points will be an incredible disappointment from Embiid.
Boston Celtics vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
Al Horford is away from the team attending to a personal matter which makes Robert Williams one of the best fantasy options in the player pool. On the season, Williams is averaging 1.11 fantasy points per minute, and this month when Horford is off the court, that has increased to 1.35 fantasy points. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are not going to break the bank, though if this game is in hand early, we could see them top out in the 32- to 34-minute range. Grant Williams should see extra minutes and there is even a chance he slides into the starting lineup at a rock bottom salary of $11 on Yahoo and $3,600 on DraftKings.
Boston has the best defensive efficiency rating in the league and they have been stifling teams all season. That said, Karl-Anthony Towns is always in play with his ability to produce both in the paint and from beyond the arc. Jaden McDaniels and Malik Beasley are both out with ankle injuries and Jordan McLaughlin is questionable with a sore quad. Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley are fine tournament options, though better plays are likely to reveal themselves throughout the day.
Brooklyn Nets vs. Charlotte Hornets
This is a back-to-back for Brooklyn, though none of their starters saw the floor in the fourth quarter last night in Miami. The Nets had a 28-point lead heading into the final frame against the Heat who looked completely uninterested in playing basketball. Things were so bad that assistant coach Chris Quinn who was covering for head coach Erik Spoelstra (personal) pulled the starters midway through the third quarter and left them on the bench for the remainder of the game.
Brooklyn does have a slim chance of working their way out of the Play-In Tournament and they should receive a boost now that the unvaccinated Kyrie Irving is allowed to play in New York. Irving and Kevin Durant are the primary targets, though Andre Drummond has a chance to take advantage of the trend where opposing big men destroy the Charlotte frontcourt. Bruce Brown Jr. and Seth Curry are neutral options, while Nicolas Claxton can be considered for tournament differentiation.
The Nets have been mediocre at best on defense this season, which of course could be exploited by the high-flying Charlotte backcourt of LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier. Now that everyone aside from Gordon Hayward is healthy, minutes can fluctuate dramatically based on playing time for the rest of the Hornets. Mile Bridges is generally secure with something in the 30- to 34-minute range, while P.J. Washington, Montrezl Harrell, Cody Martin and Kelly Oubre Jr. see their opportunities ebb and flow based on opposing lineups and their own on-court success.

Tonight is a compressed schedule with a 90-minute window for tipoffs. Of course it is a Spring Sunday during late-season NBA which will ratchet up the probability of silly circumstances leading to unexpected last-minute scratches.
